Kyotoyado 06 Nishinotoin

It was close to Gojo Station, along the road yet offers privacy from passing pedestrians. It’s also close to Kyoto Station but not *that* close - about 20 mins walk.

It was dirty. The toilet has a large mould. The mattresses and pillows had a certain smell and had hairs like they were not cleaned or changed. Speaking of pillows - they were as flat as paper - i bought a 800yen from Nitori to sustain. The house itself has a damp smell - poor ventilation in overall. We washed our clothes but had no where decent to hang it to dry and was left with a couple of damp items until the next leg of the trip. There were insects too. The back garden was not maintained so we did not open it up for view Kitchen was kinda dirty too and had stains in utensils etc. Overall good place only if you’re desperate for a night of stay.

I loved how it was pet friendly! And how close it was to the bus stops and subway station.

I disliked how we had to sleep on the floor. We were sore from walking all day as it was, and woke up with shoulder and neck pain. Additionally, we only had one flat pillow each. The property was also a bit hard to find (updating the pictures to include the purple banners would help).

Its cold even if we open the heating unit. While there is cooking facility you will freeze while doing so as there is nonheating in the area.

Washer was a nice touch

The place is small and old. The air mattresses are old and leak air. The covers smell. There was water leaking from the wall after rain.

The location was perfect. Quite centrally located, an easy 13 minutes walk to JR Kyoto. The property is rather clean and has all the cleaning material needed. Very well maintained property.

It was surprising to see only 3/4 sets of utensils. Also, there were small bowls, not even big enough for a ramen bowl. Although it said there is wifi, there was only a mobile wifi that kept turning off every time and the stove is a single hotplate. That’s like a college kid room. I was surprised that there were nothing to sit on in the apartment, such as a chair or proper seating mats. I couldn’t believe I had to take salt and pepper to an apart, nothing is provided. Finding the entrance was really difficult as the map showed only the outer buildings and not say anything about the property being at the back.

This "house" was really sweet. We felt like we were part of the neighborhood. If you stay here, you'll need to be prepared to be respectful the people who share walls with you on both sides, and don't know who you are.

This is NOT a "don't like"... it is just information. Originally, we had reserved the place because it was listed as "pet friendly." When arriving, however, signs posted in English said pets weren't permitted. Perhaps there is a bit of confusion with booking.com?
