The Summer House Ambalangoda

Die Lage ist umwerfend, besser geht es nicht. Die 4 Herren haben uns sehr herzlich begrüßt und alles erklärt. Alle Wünsche wurden erfüllt, wir bekamen jederzeit Antwort/Hilfe, wenn etwas nicht funktionierte (keine Steckdose im Bad für den Föhn, im Zimmer aber auch kein Spiegel, also bekamen wir ein Verlängerungskabel). Die Klimaanlage tropfte 24 Stunden, aber auch da wurde sich um die Reparatur gekümmert. Die Köche waren sehr flexibel, selbst als wir am Vormittag anfragten bzgl. Dinner mit Barbecue auf der Dachterrasse. Die Security Männer waren auch stets freundlich und sehr aufmerksam.

Nicht gefallen haben uns die vielen Kameras im Haus und auf der Dachterrasse, was in dieser Art und Weise definitiv vorher kommuniziert werden sollte, und zusätzlich die fehlende Privatsphäre. Man wusste nie, wann der Chef des Housekeepings plötzlich an der Terrassentüre steht. Noch befremdlicher wurde die Situation, als er meine 71-jährige Mutter fragte, ob sie alleine sei. Daraufhin fragte er sie nach ihrer Telefonnummer. Das hat die ganze Stimmung etwas ungut gemacht. 2 Tage vor unserer Abreise fragte er unsere Tochter, ob er von ihr ein Foto machen dürfe. Sie hat langsam aber sicher etwas Angst vor diesem komischen Mann bekommen. Meine Mutter wurde auch noch gefragt, ob sie ihm ein Foto der Kinder schicken kann. Wir waren froh, dass wir am nächsten Tag abreisen konnten. Der Abschied verlief ebenso merkwürdig, ich wollte ihm lediglich die Hand geben, er küsste intensiv meinen Hals links und rechts, und kündigte schon an, sich bei mir zu melden. Was er ein paar Stunden später auch tat in Form einer Whats App. Wir hatten uns sehr auf 8 Tage Entspannung und Erholung gefreut, jedoch ist dieser Mann der Grund, warum wir niemals mehr in dieses Haus zurückkehren werden. Arbeitstechnisch wirklich top Personal, aber alles andere nie wieder! Was noch zu erwähnen ist, das Internet ist sehr schlecht, im Poolbereich funktioniert es gar nicht. Außerdem fehlt im Essbereich innen eine Klimaanlage.

We stayed at this villa for almost two weeks, and overall, the impression was positive. The villa is beautiful, modern, and comfortable — a great place for a group stay. The biggest highlight is the staff: they are incredibly kind, helpful, and always ready to do anything you ask. The chef also cooks very tasty food, which made our stay especially enjoyable. However, despite many advantages, there are also some drawbacks. The internet connection is unstable, the lights in the rooms sometimes flicker, and the waves near the ocean are quite strong, so it’s not always easy to swim calmly. Overall, it’s a nice place with a good atmosphere, but there are a few things that could be improved

On arrival the staff wasn’t sure how to take payment via EFTPOS machine. The payment didn’t progress on my ANZ card from Australia as they kept selecting USD option. Thanks to my brother who’s in the hotel industry who advised them to use LKR option after which it worked. Until then, the manager insisted that my card was flawed. Kept sending WhatsApp messages saying ‘our machine is fine - please contact the owner’Caused a bit of unrest on arrival. Think the staff could be a bit more proficient and be aware of curtain restrictions on the use of USD in SL

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the incredible staff, whose kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail made our stay truly unforgettable. Every interaction felt genuine, and it was clear that the team takes great pride in ensuring guests are comfortable and happy. The villa itself was immaculate – beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully designed to offer both luxury and comfort. The service exceeded all expectations. Any request, no matter how small, was met with a smile and prompt attention
