Top of the Hill Guesthouse & Villas

Our stay was very nice! The room was clean, we had our personal veranda, it was quiet and peaceful; we had everything we needed! The owner helped us to rent a scooter and the two staff members were very friendly. Both, breakfast and dinner were very delicious. We can highly recommend this accommodation.

I love this place so much I’ve revisited several times. The villas have an old colonial feel with lots of character, and they’re located amidst beautiful gardens. There’s lots of nature to watch and a really relaxed, comfortable vibe. The staff are really friendly and the breakfasts are good. The guesthouse is located in a quiet location away from main roads. Walking distance to great beaches and several good, local restaurants.

We stayed for 5 days and made it our base for local excursions and visits around the region like Galle and other places. After an active outing surfing or elsewhere, it was great to be able to retreat to the tranquility of the guest house surrounded by nature. Staff were always ready to give advice and provide transport for an additional but modest fee. The food was wonderful and prepared to our tastes and preferences, including lots of seafood.

Healthy and tasteful breakfast, with lots of tropical fruits. Simple but tasty lunch. Dinner mostly curries with excellent real catch of the day fish. The colonial style villas are located in a beautiful tropical garden, frequented by all sorts of animals like monkeys, peacocks, humming birds, monitor lizards and squirrels. But the best of all is the staff. Very helpful and extremely kind. They can organize anything for you, and often had so before you asked, including tuktuk service.

After long thinking: when staying for an extended period maybe some more variation in the menu, e.g. hamburgers. And in case you stay with two couples in a villa it would be nice if there were two airconditioned rooms.

Quiet place with a large garden frequented by lots of animals including a cow, monkeys, and a monitor lizard.

A bit too far away from town and beach to walk. But there are plenty of tuk tuks.

Friendly staff, delicious breakfast and excellent dinner left an indelible impression of Sri Lankan hospitality. There was a constant feeling that you were somewhere in the wild - peacocks, squirrels and monkeys. Private enough but still close to everything. Recommend!

Air conditioning could have been in all rooms.

Everything! It’s a gem 💎 Clean, fresh, working AC, beautiful gardens and the most helpful staff I have met in Sri Lanka.

Garden is lovely. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Property is peaceful and well maintained.
