Vila Tagus Garajau

This house is located above the sea, close to a very nice beach (one of the most beautiful rocky beaches on Madeira). It has a very nice small garden with a beautiful view. The house is big and comfortable with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 1 toilet. It is a privately owned, old-fashioned villa with a lot of decoration inside. It offers a lot of space. There is a television and internet wi-fi available. The internet is a bit outdated and only works on the first floor but it was ok for our purpose. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Supermarkets and restaurants are close (a big supermarket 5 minutes by car, restaurants in walking distances). The owner of the house (an old lady in her 80ies) is living in the basement. The interaction takes place with somebody external that takes care of all details. This worked very well and it is possible to reach her by WhatsApp all the time.

There was not much available when we arrived so we had to buy everything ourselves (cleaning agent, trash sacks, toilet paper). The owner of the house (an old lady in her 80ies) is living in the basement. She was taking care of the garden with a gardener one day and every day she is watering the plants around the house. Unfortunately she does not speak English but we came along well. There is a very loud dog from the neighbor that barks quite often also during the night. This is a bit disturbing. Unfortunately also our contact was not able to get this under control but she really tried it.

Grill was dirty and there was no equipment to clean it, so we cannot use it. There was no soap for shower and no dishwashing machine tablets, we had to buy this things ourselves.

Location was awesome, staff was friendly, view was amazing, kitchen was lovely and villa itself was so beautiful.

Shower temperature was not consistent and almost uncontrollable.

One of the most amazing places I’ve ever stayed at. Spacious interior, a beautiful terrace with an incredible view, a cozy kitchen, and large, comfortable bathrooms — especially the huge bathing room with a window and a jacuzzi.

There are a bit too many figurines and decorations. Some people might like it, but for me, it felt a little over the top. The apartment also has a somewhat too intimate feel — almost like staying in someone’s home right after they moved out. There are a lot of personal belongings from the owner and her family from when they lived there. It gives the impression of stepping into someone’s private life, which I personally found uncomfortable. This feeling is intensified by the fact that the owner lives just one floor below, and you can hear her presence, conversations, and so on. Overall, it’s not the right place for someone who might feel uncomfortable with that kind of atmosphere — it doesn’t really feel like a rental property; it feels too personal. Of course, others might appreciate that kind of vibe.

Localization is excellent, great ocean view from bedroom and terrace, few small shops nearby (200-300 meters) so no problem to buy something in emergency if needed. Few restaurants around. Easy access to fast route (kind of highway) to airport/Funchal and other interesting places on Madeira. The house itself has all needed equipment, like washer, dishwasher, microwave etc. And ther is a cute kitty comming every morning for a snack and gets;)

Jacuzzi was not working

Our stay was fantastic. The views from the garden looking out over the sea was exceptional and you could spend hours out here! The house itself is incredibly spacious - the pictures don't do it justice. We only wished we could stay here longer! Highly recommend
