The Olive House, Prince Albert

The Olive House is such an amazing property. It is ideal for groups of people who love visiting on the verandah, with the sounds of nature and gorgeous views all around, in the most welcoming and elegant of spaces. The home is tastefully decorated, cosy, elegant, warm. It is spacious and airy. In summer or in winter, this is a haven for a family or group of friends sharing time together. We didn't want to leave.

Beautiful historic house with lots of soul

The Villa is not air conditioned as advertised so we were cold. There are two outside rooms that are air conditioned, but the main house and main suites are not. There are fireplaces but sourcing adequate quality and quantity over a long weekend require some planning. I asked about the wood supply upfront so we were offered more wood in the end. The main house fireplace’s door does not close so it smokes and uses a lot of wood. There was also a problem with the oven door not closings. Mona, the manager was helpful and said that they were aware of the issues. The owner’s view however was that previous guests have always managed and that were welcome to find alternative accommodation. We also managed, but were taken aback with the owners approach. There are some maintenance issues such as the main bathroom window not being able to open and some missing light bulbs in bedrooms. Some of the coaches were very dusty and there were a few bird/rodent droppings on them.

amazing location between beautiful mountainous surroundings with everything we needed. the house and outside rooms were sufficient and fitted perfectly the atmosphere…

1. Our stay was too short. 2. mosquitoes seem to be a problem and better nets can assist in having a better night sleep.
