Villa Riva, Vis

Our multi-generational family — my husband and me, our two sons (early 20s), and my parents (late 70s) — had a wonderful two-night stay at Villa Riva in early May. We were greeted with such warm hospitality. Key pickup at the tourist office was convenient, and we were pleasantly surprised that a van had been arranged to take us to the villa. While the walk from the port is manageable and scenic along the promenade, this thoughtful gesture was appreciated given my mother’s mobility concerns, and it saved us from having to find a taxi for six people and luggage. The villa is a beautifully renovated stone house on the riva, just steps from the water. The highlight was the top-floor living area and balcony, where we spent mornings enjoying coffee and watching boats come and go. The panoramic view was spectacular! The layout worked well for us. Each of the first three floors had its own bedroom and bathroom. Since the staircase could be challenging, the first floor, which included a seating area and fridge, was ideal for my parents. The other two bedrooms were huge. We stayed on the second floor, which also had a balcony, and our sons shared the third-floor. Rooms could be configured with either king or twin beds so that was especially appreciated. The villa was very clean, with comfortable beds, an additional sofa bed, a well-equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer (with detergent), and many other thoughtful amenities. We liked the detailed guest guide, too. The staff was responsive and remained helpful throughout our visit, including recommending a speedboat excursion that picked us up right on the water in front of the villa. We were sad to leave. With an incredible view in a prime waterfront setting, outstanding hospitality, a well-designed layout, and thoughtful touches throughout, Villa Riva stands out as one of our favorite stays in many years of travel. We hope to return again soon!

We did have some trouble regulating the water temperature and reached out for assistance. We suspect we had accidentally flipped the water-heater switch.

is a very updated clean unit with amazing views on the fourth floor of the harbor. It has the luxury of having 3 bathrooms and to have a washer AND a dryer for clothes in a rental unit in europe is very rare. The kitchen was well equipped we cooked dinner for the family and was nice to have all the dishes and appliances and some spices and sugar and coffee filters very well equipped with all modern quartz and cabinets. The bathroom showers are luxurious and have nice soaps and amenities and soft soft towels and very hot water. And plenty of toilet paper to start your trip. The beds were very comfortable and so much room to spread out and plenty of pillows and lots of extra towels for the sea also. There is AC in each of the rooms to help with the sleeping. You can literally walk out the front door and jump into the sea and this is most amazing and the kids found it incredible. The morning and night unobstructed views from the fourth floor were hard to beat. A 10 of 10 for view! The town is adorable/quaint/lovely and feels safe for the children and families. It’s amazing to walk in the evening and feel safe. My husband commented that even in the dark we would feel safe waking around. A great place to vacation with kids. We had some trouble getting ahold of the property management company never getting to us with instructions. The owners went above and beyond buying us lunch and even offering a free nights stay. Way above and beyond nice when it wasn’t their fault. The property management company dropped the ball on that and a few housekeeping minor issues with finding bedding which were resolved.

Things to note for some people. There are a lot of stairs. 62 not including getting in from the front door another 6. This could be a problem for some older people. They are also narrow and the triangle kind on the corners. There is a new bar / nightclub located right out the front door. The music plays into the evening 2:30am one night and 11:30pm at least on the others. It’s the thumping dance music you can hear in the entire house due to proximity and the windows. The first floor room had no windows and was slightly better we wish we could have all fit in there. Even with ear plugs and sound machines We slept terrible because of it. we also had the benefit of waking up to it as well. Thumping dance music at 9am with coffee from the 4th floor. Not too peaceful for us. Note also there are public benches and town trash bins right out the front door. it’s a public area. Kids are playing futbol and people having fun etc etc. boats tied up with many guests etc. people open and bang their glass bottles into the town garbage bins right at the front of the door anytime of the night or morning and trucks pick up for example. It’s not an isolated unit. It’s surrounded by the town, dogs barking etc. it’s summer it’s people. this is good or bad depending on what you want. Proximity versus peace and quiet. Probably once upon a time it was quiet and isolated. Because of this noise we wouldn’t come back. The new nightclub was the kicker. It’s was just terrible. We were so happy to leave the dance music. We wished we would have booked just down further near the pizzeria or anywhere away from the new nightclub. I wish the town had a noise ordinance. But it is what it is. I’m sure none of the people on that corner are happy about the nightclub if they want peace and quiet. Maybe in the future there will be changes.

Il ne faut pas avoir peur des escaliers raides! Mais c’est aussi ce qui fait le charme de la maison.

The location was spectacular! Right on the riva facing beautiful sunsets, and two-minute walking distance to wonderful cafes and restaurants.

Better regulation of hot and cold water in the showers! But a very small issue!

did not have welcome meat/cheese as described in booklet. Did not have laundry detergent upon check-in. Parking was surprisingly farther away than described. More detail needed on that up front. Directions to the parking would be helpful. Google does not send you helpful routes to the place itself.

Villa Riva is in a fantastic location for exploring Kut and Vis - good swimming spots, restaurants and shops all within easy walking distance. We particularly liked the personal recommendations from our hosts and enjoyed feeling like locals having our coffee at the same spot each morning and getting to know the ladies in the bakery and the little grocery store. It was also huge fun watching the yachts pull in each day although as it was peak season a couple of days were very busy and a bit noisy if sitting outside. The villa itself is spacious, extremely well equipped and comfortable - good aircon, comfortable beds and great showers. We were three generations and we loved each having our own floor and bathroom. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

The proximity to the dock meant that we had endless entertainment watching the sailors park their yachts. We loved the decor,vibe, communication and everything offered.Restaurants and bars are so close and a swim ladder at the end of the dock made for a happy stay.

The stairs could be challenging and having the living area up the top was always a bit of a drag but the views made up for all of that. We knew it would be like this as the floor plan provided showed us each level layout.

A lovely house in a perfect location. The view of the harbor Fromm the top floor terrace can’t be beaten.
