"Highly recommended for a peaceful stay near Ubud."

10.0

Villa Esa is an exceptional place to stay in Ubud area. It's best for 2 couples. I stayed here with my family for 1 day and felt that it was too less. There are 2 bed rooms, along with living+dining+kitchenette, balcony, poolside beds and a poolside sofa setup. All of them surrounding a small swimming pool. The villa gives such a relaxing and peaceful vibe as soon as you enter. There are all the amenities available such as toiletries, swimming towels, lockers and AC in the rooms; pedestal fan and TV in the living+dining area. The kitchenette has all the necessary utensils, water dispenser and gas burner for cooking. The entire villa is extremely well maintained, with all the spaces thoughtfully and aesthetically designed. The pool was extremely clean and good for relaxing, although small for having a proper swim. In the evening, the entire villa looks beautiful when lit up. The hosts- Mr. Komang, and his wife are extremely warm, courteous and hospitable people. They try their best to accommodate your requests. They have a good breakfast set menu, which needs to be informed a day prior. And since we are Indian vegetarians (no egg, no fish, no meat), they prepared the breakfast (we opted for Nasi Goreng) according to our preference. And it was absolutely delicious. Mr. Komang also gave us proper guidance for the route to the villa and helped us carry our luggage to the main road, as the villa is located a bit deep in the area where 4 wheelers cannot go. The villa is located deep off Jl. Penestanan, with the entrance through Gajah Biru Parking Area. The area is peaceful, safe and has some good nightlife. There are many cafes located nearby. Scooters can be rented from numerous shops where the path to villa merges to the street. Beware of the taxi union at Gajah Biru Parking Area as they charge IDR 5k from passengers for pickup/drop within that parking area if you arrive/depart by Grab or Gojek. I would definitely come back for a longer stay.

The location is a bit too deep inside the area, but that's what makes it peaceful. And the host, Mr. Komang is there to help you with the luggage. So, it's just a small point and nothing not to like.

"We had a lovely stay at Villa Esa 2. The Villa was clean, area felt safe and the location was perfect since we could wal"

The location was great! There’s a few really nice restaurants just a few minutes walking distance. Very close to the Alchemy Yoga and cafe. The rooms were very clean. Breakfast was included when we booked. They have options to have someone come and give massage at the Villa which was a really nice addition. The area is quiet , no roosters waking us up.

The pillows were way too high, I woke up with a very stiff neck which was not ideal travelling with a toddler.

"Peaceful, restful and enjoyable stay in Penestanan with lovely hosts."

10.0

We just spent four days and nights at Villa Esa in Penestanan. Very comfortable. Great to have the outdoor living and dining spaces and refreshing sizeable pool. Villa Esa was quiet, peaceful, clean and well appointed. Komang and Wayan looked after us very well. Wayan prepared our breakfasts every day and she is also is a highly skilled masseuse so don’t miss the opportunity for a wonderful massage. Though Villa Esa is not located in the centre of Ubud you can get there easily enough either by walking or hire car. We chose the location deliberately to avoid the busyness and noise of central Ubud. Lots of great restaurant options in Penestanan. Beautiful ricefield walks close by too.

Everything was excellent.

"We absolutely loved this little gem. It’s a special place to stay and it feels so authentic. The couple that look after"

The peacefulness.

I think some drinks in the fridge or a nibbles on arrival would be amazing, but there is little shops nearby you can stock up on what you need.

"Quiet and well positioned away from the craziness of Ubud"

7.0

Villa Esa Ubud was a bit tricky to locate at first, but once we got our bearings, we loved the fact that it’s tucked away from the main street. The peace and quiet were a welcome relief—no street noise at all, just the occasional sounds of roosters and dogs in the morning, which added to the charm rather than being a nuisance. The villa itself is comfortable, and the pool, although a bit chilly this time of year, was a big hit with the kids. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and while it’s about a 15-minute walk to the city center, we were grateful to be staying outside of it. The center of Ubud is incredibly busy, and it was nice to have a peaceful retreat to return to.

The villa could use a bit of an update, especially the bathrooms. The stones at the base of the shower appear dirty and slightly moldy, which unfortunately leaves a musty smell. It would be great if these were replaced with tiling, as the current setup seems to trap hair and debris, making it difficult fro keep clean.
