Albufeira Mar Vilas

You’re given a code to open the gate (though I have no idea if they ever change it). There are several apartments inside the complex. We were met by some cleaning staff who handed us the keys — I’m not sure if they’re the ones managing the place, but they were the only people we saw the entire time. I was traveling with my family, and we stayed in Albufeira for 10 days with our three kids — aged 12, 10, and 3. The apartment was just as described in the listing... on paper. But what you don’t see in the photos is how worn down it really is. On a more positive note, the pool area was actually quite nice. A bit crowded when everyone showed up, but most of the time it was enjoyable.

The first thing I noticed? Cigarette burns on the plastic outdoor furniture. Not exactly a great first impression. The place wasn’t very clean, and the floors were especially bad — the grout between the tiles, which should have been white, was practically black. The kitchen had barely any cutlery, and with ants crawling on the floor, I didn’t feel comfortable cooking there or even leaving food out. There wasn’t even a rag, so I went out and bought one right away. Definitely a must-have. The shower pressure was quite low, and the shower curtain was moldy. You have to request everything separately – including toilet paper, washing machine tablets, and trash bags. There is no regular cleaning service. Bed sheets are changed once a week if requested, and fresh towels are provided every other day. Let’s talk about the so-called sofa. My husband seriously considered dragging it outside and setting it on fire. It was that bad. Honestly, no sofa at all would have been better than that one. If you're going to Albufeira to party and don't care much about the rest — this place might feel like a luxury spot. It’s close to downtown, near the beach, and has its own pool. (Pro tip: don't be the idiot who drinks from a glass bottle in the pool area!) But for families? This wasn’t ideal. We were woken up almost every night by drunk people making noise and in early morning by barking dogs. The place needs a lot of love and attention. It’s honestly sad to see how neglected it’s become. But hey — if people are just renting it out and collecting the money without reinvesting, I guess this is what happens.

Location was great and the staff / cleaners were super friendly, they literally couldn't do enough for you. It was a great place to stay in most part.

When we arrived there was a pair of women's soiled knickers under one of the beds, we also found other items that must have belonged to the previous occupants including a fan. There was a shower curtain over the bath, at the bottom of which there was what looked like black mould. The same could be found between the wall tiles. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and definitely need replacing as they gave us all back ache. There were some broken tiles in the pool that were sharp on the foot. All of the above could be sorted easily and if sorted we would have been tempted ro book again.. It didnt spoil our stay too much and the resort was otherwise nice. Just needs some TLC

Location was excellent, walking distance from the old town.

There were some weird going ins in villa, grand daughter fell down stairs but felt she was pushed, a stone was thrown at my head which I picked up off floor, blood on stairs but no one was Injured, lights came on by themselves, shower fell on my head, weird noise in night and a ghostly apparition from downstairs bedroom going up the stairs. Felt like villa was haunted
