Villa Vacuna by Amazing Madeira

Heerlijk ruime villa van alle gemakken voorzien. De verwarming in het zwembad hadden we aan laten zetten en dat maakte het heerlijk warm. We hebben genoten!

Er zijn wat onderhouds dingetjes die wat aandacht behoeven, maar dat zijn allerlei kleine zaken.

Facilities in house for cleaning a bit.

The house was very nice and spacious. The bedrooms were good and the kitchen was very nice. The neighborhood was relatively quiet (apart from the barking dogs).

There was a foul smell in the living room when we arrived. We found out that this smell came from the bathroom on the ground floor. After we made sure the door to this bathroom was closed, the smell was not a problem in the living room. Apparently some contractor had recently renovated the bathroom and they did not do a good job because apart from the bad smell, the toilet was also leaking water. Other minor issues: it would have been nice to have a vacuum cleaner to do some minor cleaning and it would also have been nice (considering what we paid) not having to buy detergent for the washing machine and the dishwasher. Another thing - a dryer would have been most welcome. This is a house for families and you are bound to do some washing when you stay for a week and clothes take forever to dry in a humid place like Madeira.

The size and decor of the Villa was great. Very Modern with lots of space. The checkin was smooth and messages were dealt with promptly. A welcome basket with fruit, water and chocolate which was a lovely touch. The garden was nice and also the basement with ping pong table was useful. Lots of kitchen ware. Plenty of seats for family’s. Big fridge/freezer. Comfortable Sofas in living room. Nice Balcony, well kept garden area. The staff dealt quickly with the concerns we had. Lady who checked us in was very pleasant. The views from the Balcony were Amazing!

Main concern is The Beds were VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! It’s soo important to get a good nights sleep! Especially bed in the master suite. Seemed like cheap Mattresses, could feel the springs.Ants in the kitchen! On kitchen worktops. No extra blankets, washing machine didn’t work at first. Location a bit far out from City Centre. We paid extra to have the pool heated up for 2 days, €44, which has to be organised in advance. We only used it for an hour the first day, it was still extremely cold! Waste of money! The kids caught a cold with the temp of the water! The TV is on a stand which should be fixed to the wall as concerned anytime kids went close. Mould in basement, mould covering window blind in the walk in wardrobe. Musty/damp smell in kitchen cupboards.

The master bedroom had an astonishing view, the swimming pool was fully equipped, and the dressing was big enough even for my wife... :)

The smell of the mould was unbreathable, we had to leave all the doors and windows open even during the night. Because of that, we didn't enjoy using the kitchen stuff, they were all smelling heavy mould.

Literally everything theres nothing to dislike about the house!

We liked the space that the house has to offer.

The house smelt like damp. There were a lot of damp areas on the walls. Pool was only cleaned on the day of our arrival. We stayed for 17 nights and it wasn’t cleaned after day 1. We were also not offered a cleaning service and had to buy our own cleaning products. From day one we had problems starting with payment. We were shown one price and paid more. Upon booking we asked if we could have guests over during the day as we are from the island and we were told yes. On the day of receiving guests I informed management ( out of courtesy) but were made to feel like liars, criminals and were even threatened with reporting us to booking.com. Thanks to the staff at booking.com ( they had all the exchange of emails proving we were telling the truth ) our problem was resolved but no apology was given by the staff or owner of the property. Every day there seemed to be something they needed from us so every day we received messages from the management company. They only didn’t message us when they sent someone over to water the plants without informing us. We travel every year to Madeira or other countries and stay at villas. We have never encountered such poor management.
