Santa Rosa

I liked the serene area and that even the little unusual things like cling wrap, salt and plenty of bath areas were available.(4 to be precise, which includes 3 showers) There was coal provided for a braai. There was bottled water available and in the kitchen already when we got there. There was enough wood available to light a fire and enjoy the warmth which Peter helped with and offered to assist. Peter, the caretaker of the place was warm and accommodating and always cleaning and tidying the place. The place is a stone throw away from beautiful animals to view. We saw a cluster of giraffes just 15 minutes away from the place which is another delight. Definitely money's worth

I wished there were curtains in the lounge area, a gazebo where the pool area is to relax and enjoy the view when sitting at the top, even in bad weather. Also more outside lighting would definitely make it feel more comfortable and enjoyable. More warm bedding is required. I did feel the chilly weather required warm duvets for more comfort and better sleep. A Lock for the kitchen is required. The walls have designs such that some rooms or areas can be peeked into just by standing on the other side of the wall which does not provide much privacy... Maybe blocking those holes will help that situation. But overall a beautiful, place with nature all around.

beautiful location, massive property, it was a stunning stay for us all. very close to hluhluwe game reserve and bayete elephant experience.

please add aircons in all of the rooms, other than that, nothing bad to add but definitely 3 x 9000btu aircons and it will be perfect.

My booking was for the 26th night - the booking was made online. The monies were deducted instantly. however, to end the place is like looking for a needle in a haystack. No one calls from the lodge to confirm. After driving about in the dark and hoping to find the address, the gate to Santa Rosa in locked. No gate key or telephone to allow communication. i thus needed to drive back onto a road where i got cellular signal as there was non at the location. The person answering the call said he would get his colleague to open the gate. Driving back a second time - no one to open the gate and despite hooting for attention - no one arrives. I thus have to drive to where there is signal and on this occasion, told that i now need to get to Hluhluwe River Lodge as the person for the Santa Rosa lodge is not available. My question is why take a booking when you do not have staff. The accommodation at Santa Rosa was never reached, rather i stayed at the Hluhluwe River Lodge. The rating for Santa Rosa was a 10. Who are the 4 people who rated this lodge - probably INSIDER TRADING if you ask me. So i am a very disgruntled guest who was never made to feel welcome and then summarily sent to another lodge. Please make the owner and staff know how frustrating it is when 1. there is inadequate signage to the property 2. no access to communication 3. no one calls ahead to inform one of the problems they are encountering (ie the lodge staff) 4. the staff had no idea about the booking and were expecting payment the next day - at the Hluhluwe River Lodge ) What nonsense is happening at this location. this needs to be reported to the authorities in charge of the hospitality industry.... Location was a little out of the way, but having said that it was very private, super tranquil. Myself and family were very comfortable and happy with our stay. Peter was very pleasant and helpful on our arrival.
