Villa Mariella

Absolutely everything, fantastic owner, excellent communication, spotlessly clean, large enough for 2 adult couples, fantastic location, up to the town, down to the beach. Absolutely perfect place to stay 😊

Villa Mariella is situated very close to the main street that runs through Taormina. It's a about 7 minute walk up some steps (there are quite a few steps 140ish in total, but it's not really difficult, my 76 old mum did them fine) and along a street. You're also very close to the main bus terminal where the airport bus, local bus and lots of tour buses leave from (about 5 minutes walk) and the cable car to the beach (5 minute walk). So basically it's situated in an almost perfect location. The Villa isn't next to a road (hence the steps), but has parking for a car at the top of the steps. Being away from the road means it's really nice and peaceful. There's a great view from the property out to sea. The villa itself is quite simple, but it has everything you may need, including wifi. I went with just my mum and I, however I think this place is ideal for two couples, or three friends (three bedrooms) to hang out in, the single bed room could be great for a child too. The villa has aircon (hot and cold), the beds were comfy and there is access to the garden area from every room through patio doors. Rosella and Claudio who own the villa are the nicest and most helpful people I've ever met when staying somewhere. They are so friendly and great with communication. They have prepared a lot of helpful information to help with your stay in Taormina such as locations of recommended super markets, bars, restaurants etc. They even met us when we arrived and left and helped us with our luggage. Honestly. Such lovely people. The villa was spotless too, very clean. The beauty of this villa is that it's also just a nice place to hang out in if you decide to take it easy from sight seeing. One day my mum and I happily lazed about in the garden in the sun. Saying that the garden is lovely, it has a pool (ladder to get into it), BBQ, tables, chairs and sun loungers. There are fruit trees there too that you can pick from.

Great location, amazing views, very well located for access to the town, cable car to the beach and the bus station and taxi rank for onward exploration around Sicily.

Location is fantastic, in a quiet part of Taormina with fantastic views over the coast towards Italy. A short walk up to the main town, up a number of steps (needs a reasonable level of fitness) and restaurants and the top of the cable car down to the beaches. If you walk down from the gate you can also walk directly to the beaches although the pathway is steep. Villa facilities were excellent with multiple sitting areas, sunbeds and the seasonal pool was lovely to cool off in. Kitchen had everything we needed, and was modern with a large fridge freezer, oven/hob, and dishwasher, and outside in the utility area was a washing machine. Hosts were there when we arrived, very friendly explained how everything worked, and handed over the keys (And a bottle of fizz, and some essentials - nice touch). We had a fabulous 1 week stay, and enjoyed everything about the villa.

No fault of the villa at all, but be aware there are a lot of steps. I broke all fitness records for floors climbed and descended so make sure you are reasonably fit if you stay here (the views, facilities, and tranquility are really worth it). Only other mention is that the sunbeds are pretty hard (maybe I am getting old) so maybe some additional padding required.

Everything about the apartment was just lovely, so comfortable with every room air conditioned and the kitchen fully equipped. Thank you to our hosts Rosella and Claudio who were so helpful and friendly. The private pool with the most amazing view over the sea was fantastic. Location could not have been better for us 10 mins walk up to the town centre of Taormina and a direct path down to the beach. This really is a little bit of paradise in Sicily. The garden with lime and lemon trees was so peaceful and relaxing. We really had the most fabulous holiday. We hope to return!

Really nothing at all

The property was very, very clean and had wonderful amenities. The pool was brilliant, air con, washing machine etc all very useful. The hosts provided us with toiletries and milk and bread for our first day and even a bottle of chilled wine :)
