The Sanctuary - Private Pool Villas

Staff were great, nothing was too hard for them to organise and they were always smiling. Villa is beautiful and is as described/pictured and very comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast was lovely and very tasty, nice touch being able to enjoy it in your villa. My daughter loved the pool.

Nothing. Location is a bit out of the way but this was expected and nothing to do with the villa itself.

Amazing from start to finish. Close enough to the beach and town to be convenient but far enough to be chilled, but by far the best part was the staff. They could not do enough, helpful friendly and kind. I've never been to a place where the staff have known my children's names before. It was really special.

Ontzettend lief personeel. De villa is echt prachtig en van alles voorzien. Het ontbijt elke dag wordt met zoveel zorg gedaan en je kan het zelfs in het zwembad laten leggen voor een floating breakfast. We hebben enorm genoten!

Beautiful property, amazing breakfast and staff

Fijn huis en het personeel 24/7 stand-by voor vragen, organiseren van activiteit of je een fijne dag te wensen. Zeer fijne plek.

• Spacious, clean, comfortable villa. • Beautiful clean private pool (what luxury on Air!). • Pretty outlook from balcony. • Friendly, wonderful hosts who had a great sense of humour and brilliant English skills - loved Armand and his crew. • Beautiful decor with everything you need for a comfortable stay. • Quiet area except for light construction sounds (think hand tools not machinery) and the 4-5am call to prayer. • The welcoming lights in the tree outside reception - such a lovely sight when arriving home at night. We loved our stay. We opted to walk up from the port with our backpacks to save the poor horses (20-25 min hot sweaty walk). Got a bit concerned when we went off the sealed roads and started walking a narrow dirt path but we found it! And that was probably Google's fault taking us the 'scenic' way. We arrived an hour before checkin-in but we received a warm welcome with refreshing face washers and a juice and Armand had our villa ready for us. The space is delightful, tranquil and private. Would absolutely stay here again. Would be great for two couples travelling together as the rooms are quite separate and private. Location was nice - though not immediately close to restaurants or the sea, a 7-8 minute walk to the east for snorkelling and eateries (we spent most of our days on the east). About 11-15 min walk to the west to watch the sunset and enjoy a drink (lots of eateries that way too). We loved hanging out in our pool after long days snorkelling. Downstairs bedroom is concrete walls - more soundproof than the upstairs bedroom. Upstairs has thatch walls - you will hear the roosters, birds and call to prayer. Our teen daughter was downstairs and didn't hear a thing! TIPS: • Pack a small head torch for your walks at night. • We absolutley loved Warung Sunny for dinner (open shed, dirt floor, great food, food safe) and Santay is where we parked ourselves for the day's snorkelling (low rent but great).

Couple of minor things only: • Both bathrooms are on the lower level - a little inconvenient for overnight toilet runs as the stairs are semi-exposed to the elements and can be slippery when wet. • The enclosed ensuite bathroom had a persistent sewerage smell due to a sewer breather drain outlet next to the toilet. Made the bedroom a bit stinky even with the ensuite door always kept closed.

Could not have been happier with our stay at The Sanctuary. The villa was amazing, but the real stand out were the staff. So kind and attentive with any request, and so kind to our two boys. They helped us organise bikes, horse cart, food etc. Nothing was too much trouble. We absolutely loved our stay on the island, and we will definitely be back to stay at The Sanctuary!
