Great experience, living like a local in a local house. The owners/their family members are incredibly friendly. The family members live nearby and were waiting for me when I arrived (owners themselves were not in town) to show me around and served me with water and delicious food. Now and then a cleaning man dropped by to do keep the place/garden tidy. The villa has a kitchen + living room in the centre and three rooms, a porch and a nice garden built around it. The area is nicely quiet and is surrounded by beautiful rice fields, perfect to relax. Owner let me use his bike for free 🙂 From here it’s easy to visit Thalalla Beach (semi-private, as there are barely people there) and Dondra Light House. Small shops nearby, bigger shops/restaurants at the main road. Easy to access by bus as loads of busses from/to Matara pass by. From the bus stop at the main road (‘Beliwatta’) it’s a 900 meter walk to the villa. Be wary to bring mosquito repellent 🙂
