"It was a pleasure staying at Bebaleq."

10.0

We loved the location. So rural and quiet. Great Internet. And it’s 10 minutes drive to Desert Point. Breakfasts and other meals were great. Made to order. Real home-made food.

"Brilliant and kind host, beautiful location/house."

10.0

As a surfer I stayed at Bebaleq as I wanted to surf Desert Point. It was a brilliant decision. The host Jhon is one of the nicest people ever and in my opinion is a huge part of why you should stay at this property. The room itself is a simple but beautiful raised room/bathroom combo situated in the middle of a field near Jhon's house, which is about a 15 min scooter ride from Desert point (the actual distance is not very far however the roads between the two locations are terrible as anyone who has been to Desert Point will know). Being slightly removed from Desert Point can be seen as a good thing (or a bad thing, depending on your opinion). Personally I found it a positive as the residence is very quiet, with no noise and I enjoyed the fact I was staying in a local village. Also you are still exceptionally close to a protected beautiful beach (it is just this beach doesn't have surf). In particular a highlight I would like to mention was Jhon going out of his way to help cart my surfboards to desert point in the early hours of the morning without expecting any payment for such a service. He truly is a brilliant host and this seemed representative of all the people I met in the village who were exceptionally friendly. Also as a note there are local cattle on the property, they are very chill/quiet but will sometimes rest underneath the house (personally I thought this was an added bonus).

During my stay there were some issues with the water pump not working. However this was hardly an issue as Jhon attended immediately and fixed this. Towards the end of the stay he also installed an on/off button for the water pump to be used. As a note there is no hot water (however given the climate I did not miss this or feel I needed such). Overall minor inconveniences.

"Away from it all"

10.0

this is perfect for people wanting to get away from it all. Jhon and his wife are a young couple building their first accommodation on family land and they have done a great job of the building. They are friendly and caring hosts and act quickly if anything needs sorting. Desert Point, thr famous surf break is just over thr hill and amazing to watch when the swell comes up and I connected with dive companies for both Gili Asahan and Blongas. There’s an interesting fishing village with warungs within walking distance. The road is rocky coming in and depending on your mindset, can be quite fun, You are away from it all here.

The shower was still getting fixed when I was there and I think he’s installing hot water. The internet fluctuated but Jhon sorted that in the end.

"Great place to stay close to Indonesian culture."

10.0

We stayed at babaleq during a surf trip to desert point and it was awesome, the owner jhon is an internet technician from the village and was helpful to all our questions and had a good communication in English. The accommodation is simple yet well above Indonesians home stay standard, we felt safe and close to where we needed to be, this place is located in a simple local village in a beautiful bangko bangko bay next to desert point, when traveling you can choose to stay on a luxurious resort or have a true local culture immersion and that was our choice, wish jhon and his family’s all the best as his accommodation business keep growing it will get better and better each and every time a western stays there we being supportive of a local man’s bussines so let’s keep doing it. Aloha!

"Traditional Village Living"

10.0

If you are looking for an immersion into the Indonesian culture I would highly recommend staying here. Johns and his family are extremely hospitable. You will eat traditional Indonesian food, attend local ceremonies and be apart of the village for your stay. Highly recommended.

Need a few tables in the main bedroom and a bin. Apart from that everything else is awesome.
