Toya Retreat Villa

A real hidden gem. A beautiful area with very kind hosts. There is also a dog - a SWEETHEART that made our stay. The rooms are beautiful and clear. The only minus was a very limited choice of food for breakfast. I recommend this place to everyone who wants to escape from reality and noise.

This place is absolute magic. How it's not sold out every night is beyond me, it is truly so special. The moment you walk through the front gates you get a wash of peacefulness that only increases as you walk the property. The grounds are spectacular, the pool is spectacular, my villa was so nice that I had imposter syndrome staying there. I trulyyyy can't speak highly enough of this place. I will say this - I have traveled the world and stayed in some pretty wonderful places, I can't remember another time that a place made me feel this lucky. (PS I recommend ear plugs for bed time, you are the thick of a lush jungle)

The place is quite special, very very beautiful indeed. Unfortunately it rained all day long when we stayed here, but the landscape of this hotel is gorgeous.

It was very hard to find someone in the establishment , as there is not a reception as such. Getting food was a mission up there, the hotel has a very basic menu but we used it as last chance. The beds are small and old and for some reason we couldn't get a hot shower, just mild water.

The surroundings are breathtaking, the jungle trees, animal noises, the affinity pool, the beautiful rooms, with marble floors, stunning wooden furniture. The room was huge, we could lie in bed with an incredible jungle view. The staff were so polite, respectful, helpful and friendly. The home-made food was delicious. Whilst there isn't a huge menu selection, the food we ate was so fresh, tasty, large portions and good value. The eggs at breakfast were the best tasting free-range eggs. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle, then this is the place to go. It is in an isolated spot, in a village of woodcarvers, about 40-45mins from Ubud. As there are no shops nearby, you may want to consider bringing a few of your own supplies. We hired motorbikes/scooters and rode to Pura Tirta Empul Temple and took part in the holy water purification ceremony (such an amazing experience) and then to Ubud for a late lunch and back to Toya Retreat Villas, such an enjoyable day. The hotel has 3 villas, 2 villas for 2 people and a solo room, thus a maximum of 5 guest's. Usually photos over exaggerate a property, these do not, it is impossible to capture the stunning, peaceful surroundings. This place is a hidden gem, your own piece of paradise. But in saying that, it pains me to write such a glowing review, as I fear my hidden gem may no longer remain hidden.

Nothing, it was a perfect experience for us

Exactly as described and pictured Great location if you want to be away from the crowds. Lovely staff and breakfasts, and stick to the ‘lunch/dinner’ smaller menu if needed.
