1812 Caves 'n Mansion

This is a charming place in Karterados - a quiet village about 20-min walk from Fira, the capital. Alex is a gracious host with prompt guidance and suggestions to make the most of your visit to Santorini. His mother is extremely warm and welcoming and ensured I was settled in and comfortable every day. Breakfast is exceptional - nutritious, hearty, and delicious, prepared with a lot of love. Overall, a wonderful stay which made me feel at home away from home!

Quiet, private location and beautiful « cave » apartment inside, as well as lovely shared courtyard where a delicious breakfast was served, and we could sit out with a glass of wine in the evening. We didn’t have a car, so being able to walk to some local shops and restaurants within a few minutes was great, as well as being able to walk to Fira in about half an hour. We also used the local buses which stop about a 5 min walk away. What really made the place exceptional was the hospitality -the hosts went out of their way to be helpful and could not have been more welcoming. Alex even offered us a free upgrade, which was much appreciated!

Alex and Effie gave us a very warm welcome to their lovely peaceful haven. They very helpfully booked us taxis and recommendations. Great location...25 min walk into central Fira in a quiet, authentic characterful neighbourhood. Breakfast was fantastic. Caves apartment was clean and comfortable.

I really liked the quietness of this hotel and how helpful they were however I didn’t find the bed very comfortable.

The bed it was really hard on my mind and my hips were hurting I didn’t get adequate sleep.

Alex and his mother are truly wonderful people—warm, welcoming, and immediately friendly. Breakfast was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious: fresh bread, jam, eggs, croissants, yogurt, juice, and coffee. Alex went above and beyond—he quickly arranged a rental car for us and even booked a taxi to the airport on our last day. The location is central, making it easy to reach all the main sights by car. Highly recommended!
