"Cosy retreat in the heart of the countryside"

9.0

+ Super cosy feel with fairy lights and small heater + Beautiful landscape with outside veranda to enjoy the views and outdoor fire + Perfect sized kitchen for the size of the cabin + Wood burner was a lovely touch + Good location + Quiet and peaceful surroundings + Handy foldaway table - WiFi wasn’t available and phone signal wasn’t reliable, making doing work on laptop challenging - Door was difficult to lock both from the inside and out

"Good overnight option or even for a weekend but take the essentials with you"

8.0

The location was lovely, down a lane in the middle of the countryside with very little passing traffic yet 5 minutes from the motorway junction. Set up was cute and very pleasant. Rosie was very friendly and accommodating Sheep and new lambs at the bottom of the garden!

Shower tray filled up with water rather than emptying so needed some maintenance Only 1 shower towel per couple No coffee sachets available, 2 sugars and 2 tea bags but did have 2 hot chocolate sachets Needs some maintenance especially the deck

"Pleasant but not as peaceful as expected and some stresses due to basics not being sorted."

6.0

Lovely view, easy to find, responsive host re wrong sheet and wood. The mini radiators were very effective. The bird mural is beautiful.

I wrongly assumed it would be more peaceful. I didn't realise I'd hear the road and cars leaving and arriving the carpark. It would have been nice to have had a double sheet to fit the sofa bed and wood for the fire without having to ring to ask. I would have liked a quicker response re the shower being very cold but perhaps that was the phone reception e.g. I sent a message at 1030am and then rang again that afternoon but only heard back after approaching host's son who said he would ring his mum and she'd call me right back. She didn't call right back but I then discovered hot water was present and she rang to say another guest had turned boiler off. Although it was not the host's fault, an apology would have been nice. Instructions for the sofa bed would be useful (I hurt myself trying to figure out how to turn it back into a sofa each day). I was not aware till I got there that I would be sleeping on a sofa bed. Despite a thick mattress topper I could feel the bumps of it so it was not comfortable. Having the wood burning stove cleaned out would be useful, I cleaned out alot of ash using a bit of kindling and a bag I had with me as there was no fire set. I put the fire out soon after using it as the flames could only be observed with the door open and then smoke came into the room...there does not appear to be enough draw for it to be safe? Other guests might have needed instructions on how to put the fire out in those circumstances I e. tighten the side wheels. Also when I tested the carbon dioxide tester it said "move to fresh air". It maybe be useful to put the tester somewhere more visible to reassure guests and mention it in the folder. The fridge had hair in it and was not as clean as it could have been. The toilet seat was very loose. If I hadn't have brought another blanket and several layers of pyjamas with me, I would have been too cold at night as the duvet and blanket were thin for winter.

"Nice idea done badly"

3.0

The garden is nice and big

We checked in very late due to travelling after work so it was dark on arrival. The property is extremely poorly marked with leaves covering the tiny signs. See the pics I have attached during the day, so you can imagine in the pitch black. The signs are also no visible while approaching the property because they are facing the opposite way. The gate was locked making it appear like you may be accessing someone’s private home with possible guard dogs due to paw prints on the “close the gate” sign. After entering and clearly struggling to find our room the hosts just sat in their conservatory watching and not offering assistance at all. Then eventually we found the cabin. Inside we were greeted with a broken toilet seat, no milk for coffee, no shower get or shampoo, and a very uncomfortable bed. Would not recommend this property at all.
