An amazing place nestled in the forest with a lake available for all sorts of activities and to enjoy nature in its purity and simplicity. The sauna ritual and the lake baths were wonderful, the barbecue area is equipped with everything you need, and the little house is cozy and perfect. The bathroom is outside, surrounded by nature—essential. Collecting water from the well was also fun. Busy and happy. For lovers of peace and nature.

The only regret is that we couldn't use the hot tub, but there was so much else to do.

Uno dei posti più belli in cui abbiamo soggiornato. La posizione sul lago è meravigliosa, il cottage è bellissimo, pulito, con tutte le comodità. Regna il silenzio e la tranquillità. Un luogo eccezionale. Oltre al cottage c'è anche un'altra casetta per due persone, sempre bellissima, la sauna, un capanno con canne da pesca, legna, attrezzi per la pesca nel ghiaccio e altre mille cose. A disposizione una barchetta. Dovrei proseguire per altre dieci righe. C'è tutto. E c'è più di quello che ci si possa mai aspettare. Il proprietario è disponibile e risponde rapidamente a qualsiasi domanda. Si potrebbe dire che il bagno esterno è scomodo. Per noi è stata un'altra occasione per un soggiorno particolare e immerso nella natura. Torneremo appena possibile.

The Villa is nestled down a track, away from the main roads and city lights. There's no light pollution or noise. It's the perfect place for some time out and getting back to nature. The toilet is basic and a few meters away from the cabin, but this just adds to the 'wilderness' feel. The water you can collect easily from the well, this is pure clean water and there are plenty of containers for this, we drank this fine with no issues. There's plenty of wood for the fires and sauna. If you need warm water, you need to heat it in a boiler next to the sauna fire. You can wash your body & hair fine in here. There is no shower, but theres plenty of tubs, towels & face cloths. This really is going away from your 'mod cons' but exactly what we needed. I came to this cabin with my mum (58) and 2 children, 11 & and 15, and we all had an amazing experience. The lake was frozen with an opening for fishing and a cold dip after the sauna. You will need transport this is 55 mins away from shops. We stopped at lidl in Rovaniemi before we arrived. There's lots for the children to play with, board games, sledge, fishing equipment ect. We would come here again for sure. It's one of the best experiences we've had. The host was easy to contact and very helpful with all aspects of our travels. We couldn't ask for more. We hope to book again soon.

We loved the whole experience of getting back to what truly matters. Nature and family time. We have no negatives to give.

Location is an hour drive away from Centre Rovaniemi

I hate leaving bad reviews, and I’m not one to complain usually, but I feel like I need to share our experience to warn others. We stayed at Villa Latvus in January, drawn in by the amazing reviews and photos. We knew it was a traditional Finnish cottage without modern comforts like running water or a shower, and we were fine with that. But the toilet situation was beyond what we could have imagined, and not in a good way. Yes, the description mentions an outdoor toilet, but what they don’t tell you is that it’s not really a toilet at all. It’s a freezing cold shed with a polystyrene seat stuck on top of a pile of snow. At -20°C, this is not just uncomfortable, it’s unbearable. On top of that, the wheel mechanism to “change the snow” under the seat was frozen solid and unusable. And even if it had worked, the waste from previous guests hadn’t been cleaned up. Disgusting. The cottage itself is cozy and clean (though we did find a frying pan with dried-up eggs left behind by the last guests). But traveling with older parents, this toilet situation was completely unacceptable. It wasn’t safe, it wasn’t sanitary, and we had no choice but to leave and find somewhere else to stay last-minute, in the middle of winter. If you’re considering this place, please think twice. Unless you’re totally okay with an unusable, freezing, and unclean “toilet,” I’d suggest looking elsewhere. Such a shame, because the rest of the cottage could’ve been a nice experience.
