Chalet Cretaz

Very cute atmospheric house, very helpful and responsive owners, super quiet and safe neighbourhood is like fairytale or outdoor museum. 2 bathrooms makes life comfy. Hiking trail starts right from the house. Foodstores are walkable distance, free ski shuttlebuses in walkable distance, there are some bars and restos in town. Enough parking lots in Valtournence in the middle of week, arrive early on the weekend. You cant park in front of the house, but the way to the house is so cute that its not a problem at all.

This house is too small for 8 people. Doable, but max 6 for comfortable stay. The mattresses of 1 bulk bed in one room are uncomfortable. There are some cupboards, but as rooms are small and doors have barely space to open, then its not comfortable to keep your clothing there. Basically you have to keep the stuff on the floor or tiny window shelves. For the owners: please screw 10 proper hanging hooks on the walls of each room and both bathrooms and problem solved. Fireplace didn´t work properly, so we used only once. Please add more teacups as there were only 2, there are many small coffee cups though.

Very nice building, full of character. Delightful lounge with a working fire place. Nice location. Free carpark albeit a short walk from the Chalet.

The video posted on WhatsApp only showed part of the way to the Chalet. No information folder eg using the oven (requires opening the gas supply valve on the wall), no info about local services like shops. This information is standard in all other properties I have been renting over many years including 1 in Valtournenche I rented in January. The property was dirty: back splash was greasy as were the pots that smelled of old oil. Tumble dryer is not working. There is no vacuum cleaner or dustpan and brush! Bunk beds in bedroom 3 uncomfortable.

Internet went out for a short period of time after a power outage that lasted all of two minutes. Internet took a day to get back on, but otherwise the day was amazing. The host was very accommodating and friendly.

Very good location, close for restaurant, shops and ski bus. Owner very intelligent and helpful, he solves all our questions.

Very good hospitality and a lovely kitchen. The property has two bathrooms, a wood burner, and three towels provided for everyone. The Wi-Fi is good, and the location is convenient — close to shopping areas and restaurants. It’s also easy to find, as the hosts created a WhatsApp group to guide us on how to get there and how to operate the heating system, which was very helpful.The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

A few things could be improved: more toilet paper would be appreciated, the bunk bed mattress is too soft and could be replaced, and the bath drain is a bit slow. It would also be great to have a mounted storage space for ski equipment. Lastly, one bedroom cabinet could be changed to a wardrobe suitable for hanging clothes.

We arrived a Chalet Cretaz without heating, 8 degrees indoor, no warm water, main gas switched offContacting Massimo by telephone led to some trials to turn on the different facilities eventually with help from a local friend of Massimo arriving the chalet on-site to get some of these things done. That was off course very disappointing and probably not for everyone to waste time negotiating solutions and put on all wollen underwear to sleep the night through in a  cold house. Next morning warm water was running but it took the day to proper heating of the stone house, but from then everything worked out fine So upon this arrival we made an agreement with Massimo to compensate us with no local taxes and bedding for free, in return for a good rating, we think that was fair. We will let it be up to booking.com whether this quite serious mistake candidates for a further price reduction. Visiting earlier comments it has actually happened before, so to be safe we recommend contacting Massimo before arrival to make sure everything is up and running. We arrived in temperatures arund zero, probably -15 or so is even more serious if heating is not started in advance Massimos POV in a text message was like "...some times problems arise...thats life...". In our POV and to keep the good ratings we suggest Massimo the following Start with easy things: - Make sure to heat up the house, turn on warm water, gas and cooking electricity, that means everything up and running before arrival of new guests- Dry firewood and some pellets to start it up, that goes for tablets to dishwasher as well, would be a nice gesture as well. Both is now at hand by us for the coming guests - Massimo asked us to count what was missing overall when we asked for more cups than the five at hand. We suggest this is Massimos responsibility on beforehand to see nothing is missing.
