Oynise Beach Cabin

Good for a quiet piece of beach and relaxing. Not a lot around but it’s nice and quiet. Situation a 5-10 min bus ride into Galle. Cabin power worked well and mosquito net was needed and worked well, lovey to fall asleep listening to the water. Very cheap. Mattress is thin but comfy. Door shuts and locks well. Cabin is waterproof. On-site Restaurant is cheap but has good food and prompt service. Cold water shower only but hot shower not needed due to heat.

A fan would’ve been great but it wasn’t advertised so that’s okay. Watch out for ants if you have food lying around. Shower and toilet felt a little dirty but it all worked well.

Great location right at a beautiful (and empty!) beach, cute little huts with sea view, friendly owners and staff, very good price, very clean, good and affordable food, nice little garden

Cabin wasn’t ready when I arrived (at 2pm); mattress was a bit worn out; no fan in the cabins which was just ok as it cooled down at night; only one shared shower/bathroom, so you had to wait for your turn; beach access nearly impossible as waves come all the way up and there is rocks. Considering the price though, I still think this place is a win!

Location and the view

Oynise is a hidden gem. I keep coming back here! It’s right on the beach, with gorgeous sunsets and the sound of the waves. The family who runs it are so humble and kind and make delicious, affordable food. The decor is always being updated depending on the season. There is a light, plug, mosquito net and lock for each cabana. $5 night for this experience is genuinely unheard of (I’ve been to over 35 countries). You’re a 15 minute $1 bus in either direction to Hikkaduwa or Galle/Unawantuna.

We stayed in the beach cabana and really enjoyed it! There is a big and comfortable mattress and a net against insects which keeps you safe at night! I loved hearing a sound of an ocean while falling asleep and waking up! Food is also very good. Owner also helped us to arrange a good scooter in a good price!

Bathroom could be cleaner, and it would be great if toilet is separated from the shower as given you needed a toilet while someone was taking a shower you would have to wait. If you like to go to sleep early you might by disturbed by a noise from the next door bar, but it’s wooden cabana, so it’s obvious it is not soundproof - no problem for us!
