The One - Chalet in the Cairngorms

It was perfect for a family with one child, fully equipped with everything for travel, very clean, spacious and pleasant. Great location just a short drive from Aviemore and other places of interest in the Cairngorms.

The accommodation was spotless and very much a home from home with everything that you would need for a trip away. It was situated perfectly for our needs - close to Boat of Garten golf and tennis club - where family members were playing in a golf competition. Correspondence with the owners was fantastic, providing information in a timely manner for our visit. I would definitely recommend to friends, and would look to stay again if back in the area.

There was nothing that was unlikeable 😀

Lovely accommodation, very clean and comfortable on a nice quiet site. Good location with plenty of walks on your doorstep A 5min walk to village centre, village shop and the Boat Inn and Restaurant, Anderson's restaurant worth a visit too. Welcome basket with tea, coffee and mini chocolate bars, but plenty more items in cupboards for you to use.

Could do with their own Wi-Fi router in the caravan - as the charagable on-site Wi-Fi was very weak and only worked in living room next to window. To much clutter in bathroom cupboard - do you really need 20+ hotel mini toiletries - a basket with a few would have been better and given us more space for our toiletries. Blinds in the bathroom need replacing. Bigger TV for size of the room. No towels provided. Having to strip bedding before we left.

Location was good

The owner said because of Covid Restrictions they were not supplying towels which as far as I know there are no Covid restrictions anymore. I queried this and they just ignored me and did not respond.

It was quiet around the chalet

I sent the following message to the property owner 2 weeks ago but haven’t had a reply: 24 hours before our arrival you contacted us stating that, due to Covid-19 restrictions, you now don’t provide towels, only linen. Immediately before arriving at the chalet we had stayed for a week at a self-catering property in Scotland that did provide towels. You will have your own reasons for now not providing towels, but citing Covid-19 restrictions does not seem plausible. More importantly, you should of course honour whatever you advertise as being provided at the time of booking. At the time of our booking and even now on Booking.com it is stated that towels are provided, under the property description and ‘Bathroom’ facilities. When we contacted you to explain we were already on holiday without towels and had specifically booked accommodation with these provided, you offered to have towels laundered at an additional cost of £20, or suggested we go to supermarket to purchase towels at £6 each. Neither of these solutions was even close to being satisfactory, to resolve a problem that was not of our making. You also said that you would get this information updated on Booking.com for future bookings, but I can see that it hasn’t been. This whole aspect of our booking and experience represents very poor customer service. The chalet is well presented on the surface, but it is apparent, for example from odours and dust on the blinds, that there hasn’t been a deep clean for quite some time. It must be difficult to manage condensation in that environment, but the use of moisture traps throughout the chalet was not comforting. We encountered two cockroaches in the chalet – one in the ironing board cupboard when l got the broom out and another under the duvet on a single bed that our four-year-old was sleeping in. The double bed mattress is of poor quality/condition and not of a standard that befits the nightly rate.
