Otter Bothy

We enjoyed every single thing about the Otter Bothy, the beautiful surrounding area and very welcoming local residents. It certainly helped in that we had a wonderful spell of weather while there but even so, the Bothy was so well built that we would’ve felt secure either way. Every morning we were greeted by the most fantastic view across the water - which was like a glass millpond. The area around the bothy is very tranquil and the only noises you hear are those of animals in their natural habitat and the odd splish splash of water against the shore. The surrounding beaches are amazing as is the whole of the island. One local resident saw us photographing his highland cattle and came out to help us get better photos by waving his feeding bucket around so they all came over towards us. We can’t wait to return to the Isle of Lewis and would definitely like to stay in the Otter Bothy again.

Such an amazing location! We even heard the otters at night! Had everything we needed in such a small space. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom great. Would stay again!

We loved our stay here - it was quite literally a life saver since our campervan roof blew off in a storm and this was the only available spot on Lewis! I called up and the bothy was open with the keys on windowsill - so super easy to access at short notice. Amazing view and the kayaks as well were perfect.

The one thing I would say is that it would make a lot of difference to have some basic cooking oil for quests to use as this is something I know I tend to forget always. (also in general be well stocked as all stores shut Sunday and also it's a fair drive most places for supplies)

Absolutely extraordinary view over the lake, almost only nature sounds surronding you. Good start to discover the southern part of Lewis and even Harris.

Of course it is a very small hut (but the bath is not as tiny as the kitchen ;) ) - we knew that and were perfectly happy with it.
