"Nice cabin getaway for the price"

7.0

o The view was great! You have a panoramic view of Gatlinburg. From the balcony at night, you can see Anakeesta and some of the downtown area. o just a few minutes to downtown Gatlinburg and several minutes from Pigeon Forge. o The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and ready to cook. I would suggest bringing liquid dish soap and a sponge to clean residuals off the pots/pans, however. o The hot tub was nice. The pool table provided entertainment. If you're big into pool, bring your own stick because the provided pool sticks are at the end of their life. o The washer and dryer are a nice addition. o Two full bathrooms and bedrooms were also nice. One set is down stairs and the other is upstairs. o very affordable to go during Spring time

o 100% would not recommend going when the roads are expected to ice over. The paved roads leading to the cabin are extremely steep, winding, and offer little to no guard rails. It's also challenging to see oncoming traffic in the blind curves. 4x4 is not necessary to get to the cabin when the roads are nice. o would not recommend if you have multiple cars trying to stay there. The parking is tight and steep. I wouldn't want to see more than two vehicles due to this. o if you don't shut the blinds on hot sunny days, the cabin gets extremely hot. o there was no propane in the large tank outside to use the gas logs. o all of the pots/pans/cups were filthy with food stuck to them. We had to purchase cleaning materials to hand wash before we could use them. o The agency WILL NOT let you check in early. This was actually quite an inconvenience traveling from out of state when the cabin was empty several days prior to our stay.

"Great View, Cabin has Issues"

2.0

The view

The view was a 10. It was gorgeous. But the stay was a 2. Bear Camp posted rules inside the cabin, that are not posted on booking, that may be against booking.com rules? There is a plaque next to the thermostat that says not to move it off of 65° heat in the winter and 75° in the summer. Now we had 1 day of full sun and the room with the wall of windows went up 15°. So by their standards it is acceptable for the house to be 90 in the summer. To me that is unacceptable. If your heating or air-conditioning can't handle it get a new one or upgrade to dual zone units. Now, let's talk about the windows. The windows leaked so badly that they left puddles all over the floors. Water was leaking inside and running down the blinds to the window seal. It was also starting to an electrical socket that was missing it's brass plug on the floor. I kept having to change out the towels and wash and dry them over and over. Instead of peacefully sleeping like we hoped. We called the emergency line and made them aware. Since it was 3-4am. We called about 3 hours after the office opened and had to tell the office person (L) name redacted the whole story over since the message was not relayed properly. Bear Camp sent out a bag of extra towels with a house cleaner. They said a maintenance man would be out in a couple of hours. My husband and I waited for 4 to 6 hours before we decided to leave the house to go to the events we had scheduled that evening. The next morning a maintenance guy came and looked at windows and saw some of the water still coming through after it had stopped raining. I also pointed out to him, after you go upstairs and stand on the platform, if you look at the 2nd window on the top, their is sealant missing and you can see outside through the 2 gaps. The maintenance guy slipped and said they only have 2 maintenance men for all the properties Bear Camp manages.
