Cabaña Piqueza!

Es un lugar que se respira mucha paz, la parte interna de la cabaña está muy bonita...

Se puede mejorar haciendo un pasamanos para las gradas de la habitación...

It is set in the mountains so it really feels like you are away from the world and completely in nature. The facilities were great and had everything we needed. We even explored the trail down to the picnic site and river (it was dry so we could explore a lot). And we loved it! The top balcony is also super nice. I loved that my dog was allowed!! The hosts were super friendly and accommodating

It would have been nice if there was a little sofa inside with a little table so we could’ve relaxed more in the bottom- and kept the 2 chairs for the outside. Perhaps a better mattress type for the future, but the one we had was good enough for the short stay. Overall we had a wonderful time!

Basic 2 storey wooden hut down a steep slope, good location (20 min drive) for Poas Volcano, it’s worth taking the time to walk down to the river, there is an amazing example of an old Strangler fig tree (Google it). Despite other reviews saying the shower is cold it is hot (but low flow rate), you need to use the heat control on the shower head not the wall to control temperature. Tin roof means rain is noisy but I liked the sound.

There are several things, investment is required to bring it back up to standard. We have stayed in 13 self catering properties this month and can offer a good comparison, several were lower in price. It’s dark & dingy at night and needs better lighting, wood shutters upstairs so no windows. It’s up a volcano so can get colder at night (no heating) and the blankets could be better (we needed 3 of them). It feels sparse downstairs and could do with a table & chairs (not just 2 chairs at breakfast bar) and comfortable seating rather than 2 plastic garden chairs. Kitchen equipment is old, needs a coffee maker, 2 ring electric hob takes ages to heat up, pot cooker tripped to low setting but hot plate worked well. Only 1 kitchen knife, no other cooking utensils + only 1 spoon & 2 knives but 6 forks! No salt/pepper (empty) or oil, coffee. Toilet brush didn’t have a holder 🤮and towels feel cheap. The drive slope is steep and the one to lower house is like ice to walk on. The folks in the other property had a 2WD car and messed up a 3 point turn and got their wheels on the lower slope and needed a tow from our 4WD to get them out this morning!
