Such a cute and cosy stay perfect for getting away from everything and relaxing, didn’t want to leave Doris! There was a very thorough booklet telling you how to use all the appliances and providing recommendations for places to eat out which was lovely. Also the homemade tiffin was amazing.

Such a sweet little place. Spotlessly clean, bed was very comfortable and huge. Little oven/heater was very efficient. Beautiful location. Wish it had been summer and we could have enjoyed sitting out and bbqing.

I loved Doris BUT found getting in and out of bed difficult with my ancient hip!

Staying at Doris, the Shepherd’s Hut, was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully considered to create a peaceful, cosy retreat. The hut itself is beautifully crafted—charming on the outside, and surprisingly spacious on the inside. The décor strikes the perfect balance between rustic and modern, with warm wooden finishes, soft lighting, and all the little touches that make a stay feel special. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, and waking up to birdsong and countryside views felt like stepping into a postcard. Despite its compact size, the hut had everything we needed: a well-designed kitchenette, a spotless bathroom, and plenty of clever storage. It’s clear the hosts put real care into maintaining the space. Outside, the setting is magical—quiet, private, and ideal for unwinding. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a solo reset, or a base for exploring the local area, Doris is a perfect choice. We'd return in a heartbeat.

This was our first stay in a shepherd hut, so didn't know what to expect. Wow, Doris was so nice, very clean and well equipped with everything you would need. The bed was very comfy, the kitchen had all you need and a lovely shower. The welcome milk and cakes are a very nice touch, and there's lots of notes dotted about to help with how bits work. This was handy as it was very windy and the boiler stopped so hot water stopped. The notes explained how to reset the boiler and we were all good again. You don't get this in other places we have stayed at. We had a breakfast, and it was amazing, very good value for money. Jane was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend staying here for a lovely quiet get away.

The step getting in and out is high and takes a while to get used to. The bed is also high, but there is a small step stall in a drawer that makes it a lot easier. There is no TV, but this was okay as had a laptop for netflix etc.
