Chalet Sofia

I Like the quiet location, I have stayed in a different challet before and was familiar with location. I liked the sauna and the rooms upstairs where a good size. Beds were comfy to sleep on.

The settings on the hob were worn away and I wasn't able to switch it off, I tried every setting and the best I could do was low but still warm to touch. I ended up pulling the plug out under the cupboard. There was no plug for the kitchen sink and no washing up bowl so I ended up using a cooking pan.

Clean, warm and cosy.

Only 1 toilet between 6 people was a little bit too cosy!

Good location with enough space for 4–6 people. Not far from the ski lifts (7 minutes walk to Yastrebets Gondola and around 13 minutes walk to Martinovi Baraki, even when carrying ski or snowboard equipment) and good restaurants. The sauna works very well, especially after a full day of snowboarding. The property management company representatives are nice and friendly, check the chalet every day around 12.00, and empty the trash bins. Bedding and towels were changed as expected. Unfortunately, there is no dedicated storage space for ski/snowboard equipment, but it is possible to keep it on the balcony. If you need a dryer for ski/snowboard boots, you can rent one at equipment rental desks near the slopes for an additional fee, often together with equipment storage. A small tip about transfers to and from Sofia Airport: you can use a taxi from an official app in Sofia — I used “Yellow Taxi,” which cost around €60 from the airport to Borovets. For the return trip, you can ask taxi drivers near the Yastrebets Gondola or check with staff at any restaurant for a similar price.

It did not meet my expectations for the money. Sauna is impossible, dirty, smelly, damaged and not working. There is no sound from outside but inside you can here everything and everybody.Outdoor dining is promoted but no facilities for such.

Description of property was as advertised and met our expectations, basic but well located, at a reasonable price. David kept in touch and requested feed back, so that any issues could be resolved. The Cleaner was also very helpful and friendly.

The double bedroom was a little tight for space, but is something that can't be helped and wasn't an issue.

Excellent location close to shops, restaurants and bars but set back off main road so feels peaceful. On arrival we were struck by how cute and cozy it looked, especially in the snow. Chalet itself was warm, comfortable and well equipped. There was enough space for a family for 5 adults but we did miss having some wardrobe space, especially with all the heavy ski gear. There was enough space to dry things for the next day though. The staff at the office where we dropped the keys were really lovely and helpful. They let us leave luggage there for the day when we checkout out. If you are looking for somewhere rustic with more space than a standard hotel room then this is a good option. I would book again.

A bit tricky to navigate suitcase along the very thin dug out paths when the snow was heavy. No fault of anyone though! The curtain pole in the upstairs bedroom was broken but it wasn’t really an issue for us as we were up early. We didn’t use the sauna as there was an odd smell coming from there and there was drips of something strange all over. It wasn’t dirty, so probably only varnish or paint but it didn’t look very inviting.
