"A place full of character"

We liked the well-equipped kitchens and the beautiful backyard. It has a nostalgic, old-school vibe. The breakfast was good, and it was nice to take the breakfast basket outside and enjoy it in the backyard.

The mattress could be more comfortable. The soundproofing wasn’t great, but that’s totally understandable for an old wooden house.

Tout! 2 nuits vraiment magnifiques, rien ne manque et la gentillesse de la patronne qui fait ça avec amour, idéal pour enfants ,petits chalet superbes avec WC, tout est fair pour se sentir bien....

The shower cubicles were fairly decent. Host was very friendly and informative and possibly the best thing about the stay

We didn't have breakfast there so want sure of the options. It is more a self catering camping site. Properties re very run down and the one we stayed in we had to rearrange the furniture as it was not possible for the children to sleep in the loft beds as their noses were too near the ceiling. Bed uncomfortable and basic, very cluttered inside far too much furniture . Didnt like the idea of having to share communal fridge, no bin in room, slippers left for guests to use had holes in the soles. If you are going with children that are over 11 make sure you ask for the biggest room

I really loved the atmosphere! You can feel that Donkey Villa is privately owned and lovingly cared for. Patricia and the staff are super friendly and take the time to explain everything when you arrive. There are different options (see website) for your stay – the main villa, tipi tents, yurts, and guest houses. I stayed in the villa, as I was traveling alone, and had a super cozy single room. The breakfast was simple but lovely, made with care and that special attention you only find in unique places. The location is also perfect for exploring the Appenzell region. I’ve already booked my next stay – I can definitely recommend it!
