Life for Life Hostel Lodge Drake Bay Home of Sea Turtle Marine Conservation Project Osa Peninsula near San Josecito Beach

It was one of my most amazing stay! The place is perfect in the middle of nowhere, you can walk around, see many macaws, cappuccino monkeys, sometimes hear hawler monkeys, coaties and many others things if your attentive! The sunset is incredible, the hostel is very clean all the time, the hammock area is incredible too with a view on the sea, there is a kitchen if you want to cook but also their restaurant. The vibe and the people that stayed also here were super nice which makes me stay longer ans longer. The staff welcomed me when I arrived by boat and showed me the way to the hostel, but also when I left someone went with me! I definitively recommend it! If you want to cook, bring all your food before coming there as there is no supermarket or you’ll have to hitchhike to another village.

Great location! Lots of animals in the garden. Fantastic atmosphere. If we ever go to Costa Rica again, we will stay longer here.

Having to leave this paradise

Beautiful slice heaven right by the beach. All sorts of birds and animals in and around the hostel. The food is delicious and the staff is very helpful and sweet.

Really good location

It was quite dirty. So I decided to leave after 1 night and not stay for my whole stay. The man working here was clearly upset with me leaving which I understand, but he said that he wouldn’t help me look for anywhere else and that I would not receive any refund. Although the rooms are cheap the food is expensive so it’s actually not the best cheap option for the area. I wouldn’t recommend staying here as a solo female traveller. It’s remote, and there weren’t any other guests, only a tour group so it felt a little too isolating for me

Location Friendly team Chilled vibe

Poorly equipped and tiny kitchen for self catering. Our food went off because the fridge failed. I booked a snorkelling tour through the hostel but it was disappointing as no information, education or instruction was given and the group leader did not respect the environment, touching the coral, surrounding the turtles and discharging soap used to clean the masks into the water (which kills the coral). This is not the hostel’s fault but I think a better tour could be organised, especially as the hostel is run by a keen and knowledgeable biologist. The boat in and out is expensive.
