Roots Family

Very central location, bike rental right at the hostel. Very welcoming people that work and volunteer there. We had a hostel Christmas dinner which was lovely!

The location is great, very close to bars and restaurants but outside of the main area so it is a bit quieter. The room had everything we needed

Beds aren't comfortable. It is a bit overpriced IMO but I understand Puerto Viejo is very overpriced in general.

De locatie was dichtbij het centrum en voelde veilig. Ook is de binnenplaats van het hostel echt super gezellig met lieve katten. Het personeel was super lief en behulpzaam. Het is een sociaal hostel en je kunt er fijn koken.

De prive kamers (niet de deluxe) zitten aan de keuken. Het moet wel om 22.00 uur stil zijn waar aan gehouden moet worden maar als je écht vroeg naar bed wil omdat je vroeg op wil kan dat niet. Het is namelijk heel gehorig. Verder is er een auto die langsrijdt in de straat met bizar harde (wel leuke) muziek. We werden hier meermaals wakker van ('s nachts on 3 uur, 4 uur en half 5) dat was een beetje irritant maar kan het hostel niks aan doen.

My stay at Roots Family has been amazing... The beach, restaurants, shops, atms are all within walking distance... Bribri is a short drive away... The staff and owner are welcoming and have been attentive to my requests... The lounge is cosy and the room spacious enough... Neighbors are night owls and love a good party... The cats are pretty tamed but Carlitos can get a little naughty... But this adds to the charm of the place as was the rainy season... Highly recommend if you're in Puerto Viejo
