"Peaceful escape from city life - Bliss!"

9.0

Beautiful, secluded and peaceful location. Perfect for a recharge and escape from city life. Absolute darkness at night and peace and quiet. Most spectacular scenery, forest all around. Lots of wildlife and abundance of birds. Absolute gem of a place. Kitchen was well stocked with all items you would need (quality items / utensils / cutlery). No microwave (but this was not missed). Quality bathroom items too such as soaps / shampoos/ hand wash etc. Good quality towels and bed linen was appreciated. Beautiful hiking paths to a swimming dam as well as other paths that can be followed. Wild horses that greet you and roam happily in the garden. Two sweet dogs that greeted us and walked part of the way along the hike to the swimming dam. We saw snakes, scorpions and plenty of spiders which we loved. You are truly in nature and this is such a special place to stay and unwind. The host, Erica was excellent and super responsive. We also arrived to fresh eggs and milk provided (and quite a few other items like spices / tea / sugar etc) which was a lovely bonus. Close enough to the town of Sedgefield for daily needs / restaurants, but even closer to a wonderful pizza/pasta restaurant 4 mins away. We will definitely book again when we visit Sedgefield.

*Not that we didn't like it, but just to be aware*- that the home is off grid and works off only a few solar panels (charging items was a challenge for a family of 4). No TV (but we loved this). - It sleeps comfortably 2 adults and a sleeper couch for 2 children in the lounge (so this home is only a one bedroom) - we did not realise this. I would recommend only couples or couples with younger children stay here as our teenagers (11 & 13) needed a bit more privacy of a separate room. - No fans (because it all works off solar panels), it was very hot at night (we went during Dec) and could not leave the door/windows open because of bugs and mosquitoes. - Main room bed mattress does need to be replace, but once asleep it is the best sleep you will ever have. - You do need a car with a good clearance as the road leading to the house is gravel - lower clearance could make it but at a very slow pace I would imagine. - We had issues with the toilet after housekeeping came - which was fixed immediately, then only to block again shortly after (even though we kept to septic tank requirements).
