Bunker Hostels Kareri

The only thing I liked about this place was the mountain view, which was stunning.

I can't believe this place has a 9/10 review. Starting with the food, it was a bit heavy for me: lots of gravy, sauce, seasoning. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning and fever and had to be on antibiotics for 5 days and missed the course I was going to do later on at Tushita. I was the only guest at the hostel for several days, which makes me think that the food was probably not fresh as there was no demand at the restaurant. The room and bathroom are VERY cold in the evening (I was there in October), I can't imagine how it gets during winter. There was a heater in the room but it wouldn't fit the plug. There are several dogs in the village and literally EVERY night they start barking and howling, so I did not have good nights of sleep there because of the noise. My bed sheet was not clean when I got there - photos attached. I had to ask the cleaning lady to change it. Sometimes, the staff (cleaners and from the restaurant) listen to loud music which is very unprofessional and quite annoying as a guest. I came here with the expectation that there would be day tours or guided hikes to the mountains, but there was none - especially because the hostel was pretty empty. Because I'm travelling alone, I did not feel comfortable going on a 5h trek by myself to Lake Kareri. So I got bored during my stay and ended up checking out earlier than expected because there was literally nothing to do there - it is a very isolated area!

This Hosteller is away from the crowds and nestled into the small village of Kareri. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the views are amazing and the food is delicious. The room's are spacious and the WiFi was consistent during my visit. This is also a great spot for hiking to Kareri Lake which is a beautiful trek.

It is quite an isolated location so it can be quite expensive getting around as taxis seem to be the only option. The bathroom could do with a renovation and some background music in the upstairs common areas would add to the vibe. Take earplugs too, because sometimes the dogs will get into a barking contest throughout the night right outside the rooms. The Hosteller also make you pre-pay on an external payment platform outside of booking.com which didn't work for me initially. It took me a lot of time troubleshooting just to pay for my stay and there were extra fees

This is a magical property at a magical offbeat place. The manager, Aryan, was so helpful and really fun to be around. Also the other staff members were very nice and always positive. I loved the food here and I think this is a great place for workation. The Wifi worked well most of the time.

There was no place in the dorm to hang your jacket (like a hanger on the door) which I would have appreciated.
