Staff were amazing. It was very clean. And the food was very good.

Check in not untill 5pm, but there happy to kick you out by 10am The track up to it can be damaging for cars

Friendly staff and guests. Good food and my private room had a comfortable bunk.

The road leading to the hostel was very difficult to ride my motorcycle, due to being constructed mostly from loose stones. Could do with paving.. I was sliding all over the road and nearly fell off. I think sports cars also would easily ground out. Really only suitable for 4×4 s.

Great location, even if it was a careful drive up the uneven track to get there! We could access a walking route up to Hellvellyn very near to the property, and there is also a pub 20 mins walk back towards town for a nice drink at the end of the day.

Bathroom toilet cubicles had quite damp/wet floors, otherwise cleanly as you’d expect for a hostel. When we visited there were a group of young children often running around the social spaces and bathroom facilities and being disruptive which let down the stay. Perhaps we were just unlucky with our timing, but this took away from the reasonably quiet and respectful atmosphere of a ‘walkers paradise’ experience we had hoped for.

We had a fantastic experience this weekend with our two eight year olds. Asked whether they would come again we received an emphatic 'Yes!'. Lovely staff, lovely place.

I'm not sure much could be improved. It got all the important stuff exactly right. Maybe comfier mattress in the cabin we stayed in? That's about the only thing I can think of.

Location, rooms, dining area, food. All brilliant.
