Germaican Hostel

Breakfast was not very good, some dry pancakes cooked by one of the other guests and some fruit. Location was pretty but challenging to get to, especially in the dark. Room was nice but no ventilation (no screens or fan) bed was very soft. Owner was pleasant and helpful to a point.

Getting to the location was very challenging. We were driving ourselves and had no heads up about how hard it was to get there, and how bad the road was. We had driven all over Jamaica and this was the worst road we had, crossing streams and very challenging for a regular compact car. Got there about 6pm as light was falling and then discovered you had to bring your own food, no heads up on the situation at all, which would have helped us. Everyone, including the owners are smoking dope almost all the time, not the experience we were hoping to get from a hostel

Marian and Ana were lovely hosts and made all guests feel comfortable. The place has arguably the best view of Portland. It is nice and quiet a bit distant from the centre, which was not a problem because Marian would leave us and pick us up and combined a combined time.

- Doesn’t accept payment with credit card (only cash and PayPal) - Location- about 15 minutes driving to the downtown area, but the owner gives guests a ride once in the morning and once in the late afternoon to return - Accessibility- the property is located on top of a hill that has unpaved road. Not close to any supermarkets or restaurants, so need to plan food shopping before returning to the hostel

What a beautiful little paradise in the jungle. There is a lot to do around port Antonio and this place is a perfect base. You immediately feel relaxed on a nice veranda with a beautiful view and amazing hosts.

The best Hostel in Jamaica. Marian and Anna are very friendly people and are always here to help. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast very tasty. I highly recomend this place!

I had a fantastic time staying with Mariam at his great hostel. Mariam is a great guy, I came as a guest but I feel like I left as a friend! We went out together a couple of times, it was a great experience :-) The hostel itself is awesome. The view is great, facilities are top notch, and you couldn't ask for a better breakfast in the morning. If you feel like stretching your legs, do walk the way up or down at least once, it was great and very safe.

Free breakfast was excellent, and is a good way of everybody meeting up in the morning. The location is great except can be a little isolated so works very well that the hostel owner gives everyone (who wants it) a lift half way into town every morning, and can pick you up from the drop off spot in the early evening. Staff were helpful and integrated well with the guests. Trips out etc were good.

I suppose a swimming pool would be nice 😄

The road to get there is really bad, and long (you have to go super slow so the last part took about half an hour). We had a rental car but were scared to break it on this road, so always have to ask the owner to bring us up and down with 4x4. Most people seem to come here just to hang and smoke, and for that it is the perfect spot (with very good views). But if you want to do things during the day, this is not a convenient stop. No hot water - and they did not tell us in advance, so we had to shower in icecold water at night.
