Radfahrerherberge Krems

Excellent hostel, very clean rooms, nice location close to Krems centrum and the Passau-Vienna bicycle path. Very nice breakfast, comfortable bed, quiet place. I can recommend it!!

For about 15 minutes, I had some difficulty to check in, but that was my fault. The hostel was locked, and nobody was around, and at first I did not notice that I already got a message via the booking app, about a key locker. When I arrived, I met a French couple who wanted to spend the night here, but they did not have reservation. They complained that nobody is around, and nobody picks up the phone. The phone number written on the door, and the phone number on booking.com did not match (even different number of digits!) and none of those phone numbers worked (nobody answered), although it was already after 17h and the check-in starts at 17h. We were pretty disappointed and I thought they are lucky because they can go to any other place to stay, but I already paid for my room here, I just cannot get in, and cannot contact anyone. Fortunately, after some time I checked my booking app and saw the message; so then I got in and everything was fine. Bottomline is: always check your messages on booking app!

I liked the location.

The lack of communication. The only way I was able to be let in was through a neighbour seeing I was trying to figure out how to get in and they called the owner. I don’t actually know how I would have gotten in if they didn’t help me. Not a single message or communication at all until the very last morning where all the said was “all that’s left is the tourist tax”. The shower was absolutely horrendous. Felt like a hose would have done a better job. The beds were stained and dirty. The breakfast was ok but the food was kept in the fridge uncovered and unhygienic for sure. I’m glad I enjoyed the area and how beautiful the surrounding towns were cause I did not enjoy where I was staying.

Right on the Danube bike path & close to the old town + a grocery store (Hofer). It was nice to cook our own dinner for a change!

We visited during a hot spell; perhaps a fan in the room.

Not many amenities, lack of wifi, 'hospital' lighting in the room instead of the usual warm light

Good location on the main street, was clean and nice.

All good, comfortable room, good location. just one point: usually, the self check-in instructions arrive a day or so in advance, but since not everyone has internet roaming!, and it could catch guests off guard
