Hostel Evropa

I'm trying very hard to identify the good qualities of the hostel. The price was good (€16 per night), the location is good and close to supermarkets. There are televisions in the room.

There were many problems during my 8 nights there. The bathrooms were both very dirty when I arrived, the toilets had urine on the seats, the sinks had hair and stains in them. The showers are very dirty, they have rubbish in them, there was an old razor with hair in it, not enough toilet paper. The kitchen is very dirty. The cutlery is dirty, there were dirty dishes in the sink when I arrived, the fridge has food stains in it, the toaster is dirty and sticky, the chairs look dirty with handprints, inside the drawers is dirty, not enough cleaning products for guests. When the male owner came to collect the money on day 4, I told him the place was dirty and needed to be cleaned. He ignored my request and acted surprised that it was dirty. I asked again, finally he called someone. The female owner came later and did a quick clean of the toilets and the floor of the bedroom. She didn't do any cleaning in the kitchen and the showers were still dirty. This was the only cleaning that happened during my time there and it only happened because I asked for it. Nobody works at the hostel, it's self check in, so nobody is looking after the place. The hostel ran out of toilet paper and there still wasn't any when I left. You have to ask for all the basics. Also, when the male owner came to collect money, he tried to come into my room without permission after I told him to wait outside. This was extremely inappropriate. I felt very uncomfortable at this hostel, it's the worst one I've stayed in in Montenegro.

My favorite place in Niksic. I stayed here before and when I visit the town, I will stay here again. 10+++ for my host, and another 10+++ for the garden. I so love that garden with the wild fig tree that grows wild (even when cut down regularly as my host explained) and maybe one day I'll spot the owls nesting here. The hostel has everything you'd expect from a hostel, with a nice common room/kitchen, that garden, a good hot shower, and I had the room for me alone, since.. well.. not many other guests. And of course, crawling distance from the train and bus station and the center.
