The location was ideal

The private room I had, had a broken window, the previous guest soap and amentities were left in the shower. The kitchen and dining area is in a dire need of a clean up, and so do the fridges. There is a night club next door which goes until midnight - 1am, so trying to sleep is a bit difficult. Never really saw reception being manned.

Location. Spacious kitchen. Enough toilets. Bunk bed facilities. Hooks at shower door convenient. Staff friendly. Common room has pool and piano.

Resources not always refilled. Salt was run out. Not enough Shower boxes. Shower water too cold. Bunk beds leader painful to step on and climb.

Cheap and good enough

Very cute and had character. Staff were very friendly and informative. I got the female only, 4 bunk room with curtains. The bunks were modern. Each bunk had its own light, wall sockets, USB socket, fan and a cubby whole for storage. The beds, blankets and linen were fresh, clean and comfortable. Showers and toilets were modern and clean. The kitchen was spacious and tidy. It had a good amount of cooking and eating utensils. There was ample space to store your goods. There were a couple of nice places to hang out like a recreational area on the ground floor and a roof top area. The eating area was spacious.

The building itself shows a bit of aging that could be upgraded at some point. It was quite dark so a little more light or a design upgrade to make it more vibrant (get rid of the dark paint on walls) would make it better. It was still nice though. My bunk bed creaked/squeaked every time I moved even just a little. I get restless legs as well so probably not a great experience for the person I was sharing with. The location of the entrance to the building on a dark side street had me looking over my back as a woman travelling on her own, staying for the first time and arriving in the dark evening. A bright light might help and a more obvious entrance sign. The fridge in the kitchen was dirty and needed a clean out. It was cold and felt like there was no central heating or insulation in the building. In saying all this, none of these are deal breakers for me. The good stuff made up for it. It was still good value for money, I’d stay again.
