Sandhaven Beach Chalets

So close to beach rides parks and bars

Location to beach and no noise during the night. Great to be able to park car so close and for free.

Chalet 8 wasn’t clean - the door mat was covered in dog hair, there are mushrooms growing on the bottom left of the shower entrance, the toaster was covered in crumbs, there is shattered glass under to the right of the fridge and an empty plastic bag. Bathroom walls need painting. Window frames need cleaning as a lot of dust from road out back. Mirror on side of wardrobe would be better placed for easier access. TV needs cleaning. We had very little cutlery/utensils whereas Chalets 6 and 7 had more.

The chalet was very cute, perfect for the two of us (myself and daughter), and had everything we needed. It was scrupulously clean, and providing things like a tea towel, washing-up liquid, handwash etc was unexpected and a nice touch. Wi-Fi is good, phone reception good, and there are plenty of plug sockets which is a bonus! The couch was very comfy and the carpet is either very new or very well looked after. The owner’s communication was spot on, and key collection, instructions for parking etc was a breeze. We didn’t meet the owner but she seems really lovely, and was readily available via text. Location couldn’t be any better. Loved opening the door to gaze out onto the beach. The sunsets are spectacular. This was our first visit to South Shields, and we’re already looking to return - and we will definitely book this chalet again if it’s available. As an aside, the council/locals are to be congratulated for the pristine beach. I’ve never seen a beach like it (in this country!).

The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the bed (the double). The mattress felt lumpy, and it was hard to get comfortable. But I managed. My daughter said her bed was fine though (she was in bunk beds, I think she tried them both!).

Love the closeness to the beach. Property itself was lovely and clean could not fault that.

Lack of utensils, not equipped for four people as we only had two forks had to borrow from a neighbour, two mugs and three plates. One of the pots handles very lose and no frying pan had to buy one ourselves. Bathroom had no toilet brush and also the toilet roll and towel holder was lose from the wall. Sofa in the living room very uncomfortable felt the springs when sitting down so had to use pillows to sit on when using. No mirror in double bedroom.
