Facing Bay Hostel

Only bad thing was the horrid mattress protector. Hard to sleep on as it felt awful and was noisy. Maybe a softer less plastic one?

I loved this stay! getting the room with a balcony facing the water was amazing — going to sleep to the sound of the ocean was lovely. And the receptionist was SO helpful! She helped me get a car rental the day I arrived and told me more about the sites I was interested in visiting! :)

Came back after 3 years and it was as good as I remember from my first visit. On the beach, sunrise view, just minutes away from a few good restaurants, 300/300 Mbps wifi. Would come back anytime.

Everything! It was clean, beautiful view of the ocean and harbor, well thought out, had everything we could have needed, well equipped kitchen, staff was super helpful. Excellent value for the money. Beach was perfect, short walk away, and beach towels were provided. Facility looks brand new and everything worked perfectly. Lots of storage in the room and excellent creative lighting in the room. Lots of natural light. Black out curtains. We were in room 4 which was a private room with king bed, a large private bathroom, a full ocean view and large balcony. We watched the sunrise while in bed!!! Grocery store in walking distance that is small but well stocked and had everything we needed for cooking meals during entire stay.

This is an excellent accommodation. More like a 4-star hotel. Everything was clean and modern. Balcony overlooking the beautiful beach of Praia. The owners went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and welcoming 😃

The views, just on top of the beach, the cleanliness of the facilities.It is a new place, nicely decorated, the kitchen was fully equipped with all utensils needed.Staff very friendly and helpful. Just wonderful!

Mena and her husband (whose name I unfortunately don't remember) are incredibly helpful! Booked taxis for me, were trying their best to help me find a rental car on short notice. Facing bay also has really comfy beds, good kitchens, and a cool view from the top floor. Perfect location in Praia da Vitoria. There was also a festival going on when I stayed there! So I got to watch traditional dances roll by my window.

Cleanness Design Everything is new View to the ocean

1. Not clear info about the place in the description, when I was in the process of booking, I was not able to understand the text that hostel has in the description - "O aeroporto mais próximo é o Aeródromo da Ilha da Graciosa, que fica a 107 km de Facing Bay Hostel.", I even asked portuguese person to check if I understood correct - instead of saying that Lajes airport is literally 5 mins away from the hostel by taxi, they are saying that the nearest airport is on different island, WHY?) Can't understand, it's like they create confusion for the customer already from the 1st contact with their business 2. The lady-manager that checked us in, was not really welcoming - didn't present any info about the hostel as it's being happened usually (some general info, wifi, area around, recommendations if we need, some tours etc), just lead us to the room, that's it - sometimes in place like this the option of breakfast is available, we saw that they have kitchen, but nothing else we were presented or told, I think it can be beneficial both for the hostel and guests to have option to have breakfast as additional service, as balcony has a great view to the main city beach 3. Every morning I was awakening with people's talking voices from the other rooms, I think the walls are not thick enough, so you can listen other guests in the morning and night instead of ocean sounds 4. No any water to buy in the hostel, would be nice to have some fridge, so customers can pay and grab water or smth when it's already late and no option to go buy outside (recently we had this option 24/7 in the more simple hostel on much smaller brasilian island in the same Atlantic ocean haha) 5. I liked the design, but I was missing some objects to create better ambiance and more comfortable stay - it would be nice to have some plants on the shared balcony, or better furniture (me personally prefer not the metal chairs)
