moisissure partout. si vous voulez avoir des problèmes de gorge suite à l’humidité foncez ! salle de bain dégoûtante, personnel incompétent, les planches de bois faisant office d’escaliers ont failli céder sous notre poids (filles de 55kg)… la chambre est mal insonorisée, jusqu’à 3:30 on entend la musique du bar au dessus comme si la fête est dans la chambre. les chiens se permettent de rentrer dans la chambre même quand la porte est fermée. nous sommes restées une nuit au lieu de deux car la moisissure était trop importante

1. This hostel is great for location wise. Literally a minute away from ella train station. Close to and walkable distance all the famous attractions in Ella. Very friendly staff and exceptional breakfast. 2. I booked the placed though booking.com and asked & mentioned for a checking at an odd time between 2-3am( I paid for a day advance due to my arrival time). On arrival to the accomodation at 0250hrs. There was no one, the neighbouring bar bartender helped me to my room / accommodation. When on the advertisement stated it’s a 24/7 reception. The bartender did bang on the door of the owner but nil response. Poor service for this even paid a day extra. 3. Poor communication by the owner. I booked the place more than 12hrs prior. Asked for an odd hr check in and if there’s 24/7 reception to assist me. Message sent through bookin.com and WhatsApp to the given number. Nil response. 4. It’s basically you get what you pay for. The hostel is a basic 1 room with 6 bed. No toilet paper. Has hot shower. The top part of the toilet lid was missing so had to weirdly press the toilet to flush. Way too much Mosquitoes- mosquitoes net provided which is helpful. The bedding had bad odour. THE ROOM SMELT LIKE TOILET when slept at night. 5. This place has no privacy. Not safe for female solo travellers. When you’re leaving the room to go out there’s no lock on the door. There’s an old lock system from inside ( which is hard to use as you’ve to get upto open the door for others. It can’t be open with the keys). 5. I did extend my stay for 1 extra night Cz it was cheap, close to the attractions and transport. Extra: this place has noo privacy. No dividers or curtains. On the second day of my stay there was a male traveller booked the shared room. You’re unable to change or get dressed in the bathroom due to floors wet, smell. I had to dress in the share room space. I felt unsafe with the male traveller. I couldn’t sleep all night due to him trying to flirt at 4am.

The male traveller was very in appropriate at 4am in the morning(he was awake in his bed and I returned partying and I wasn’t not drunk). I couldn’t sleep all night due to this situation. The toilet wasn’t cleaned everyday as claimed in advertisement. Free wifi but shit connection. Clothing rack & toilet paper provided upon asking. No AC. 1x old fan which makes so much noise. There’s no garden view, view of construction materials. Does have a view of the mountain from the bar. The stairs are abit steep so be careful. Construction going on at site. There’s a small plastic table with 3 chairs outside. No slippers provided. No hair dryer. It’s a noisy place so expect noise from bar and dogs barking right outside the room. There’s no 24/7 front desk. No lockers( false advertisement). There’s no 24/7 security.

Perfect location with a friendly atmosphere

The room was a bit damp but for the cost and the lovely breakfast and welcoming staff it was worth it

The people working there are really hospitable and also extensively knowledgable about the places around the area and Sri Lanka itself, thus you will feel like you are getting to know the place better.

The plumbing in the bathroom needed a bit fixing but they were minor fixes, everything worked regardless.

The staff is great and super accommodating. They had overbooked and instead of telling me to leave they made space for me and offered it free. Couldn’t be more grateful. The location is great by the train station and breakfast is also delicious
