Cleanliness and the helpful staff

Location is difficult to find

To short stay

- nice staff, very kind and helpful - 24h security staff - the most central hostel - clean dorms and showers - the welcome pack with soap, towel, toothpaste and toothbrush - socket for each bed

- The location is in the high tech district which means that a lot of nearby stores blast music on bass from 7:30am to 9pm. after a long day walking in the noisy city I want my to be in a calm place and it's not possible with this hostel. It's a shame because it ruines the whole experience. - the paper to sign for the check-in, imagine you arrive at 11:30pm after a 7h flight, you just want to sleep but the staff makes you sit down in the lobby and go through a lot of paper to sign. I have travelled everywhere in Europe and Australia it's the first time I had to sign papers. - The control of the bags and suitcases should also be explained, I was aware because I had read a previous comment complaining about that, but still the staff should explain why this control. That's also another king of humiliation after the papers signature: having to open your entire suitcases for the staff to go through. As a guest I didn't feel welcomed and trusted during my check-in (after that they were lovely) I am in a hostel in Cebu right now and didn't have to sign papers and open my suitcase - no heater so cold showers.

They take care of you

It is in a very sketchy area and far from the main city

- The whole place is kept very clean and you get toiletries on arrival - All the facilities seem new and well kept - probably the best shower I’ve had in PH - Comfortable bed with a sturdy bedframe that doesn’t squeak or move too much - Good A/C in the room - Great location very close to China Town and Intramuros - Pretty good wifi

- Checking in was one of the weirdest experiences I’ve ever had in a hostel. First they wanted me to show the booking before even entering the hostel. Then they wanted me to email them the booking because they didn’t have access to it. I had to sign a very detailed four page document. They wanted to search my bags - I protested this and it was fine after I just showed them my small backpack. They didn’t really want to tell me why they were going through all this, I kept asking if there was a problem, but they didn’t really respond and it just seemed like they weren’t supposed to have any guests and they were very confused/apprehensive about me being there. I was the only one in the dorm and an apart from my bed all the other ones were still covered in plastic, so it looked like they were ‘open’ yet. I think I saw one or two other (Philippino) guests there but apart from that it was completely empty. However, it seems like they still cleaned the whole place very thoroughly every day. I also asked if they had a place to store my bags after check out, because I wanted to spend the day in the area, but that was not possible. When I ordered a taxi the security followed me outside - at that point I’m not sure if she was just being friendly making sure I was safe or if it was so make sure I left. Honestly I don’t know what to make of this. The place in itself was great, comfortable, clean, and I would’ve loved to stay another night or two but the whole experience with the staff was just too weird.

Good location in the center of Manila, very friendly and helpful staff. The hostel has a 24h security, so you can feel totally safe.
