MOUNTAinn Nagiso

Wow! What an amazing place! We reserved a night at MOUNTAinn Nagiso at the end of our walk along the Nakasendo from Magome to Tsumago. We left wishing that we had reserved more than just one night. We liked the large kitchen table where we could sit as a family and eat, as well as the open areas on the first floor and second floor to sit outside and enjoy the mountains and river views. Every room was clean and beautifully decorated. I would definitely go back again.

We booked this property during winter and so had the entire place to ourselves (it looks like the property is a guesthouse during the summer/spring/autumn) so this review is not applicable for those times. The place was incredibly spacious for two people (it has four bedrooms and a kitchen that can seat about 10 people). We stopped here for only a night before hiking the Nakasendo - but it was genuinely lovely. The place is very beautifully decorated and has a great view of the river.

Nothing - its a peaceful place to stop in the middle of the mountains.

This place was really huge - we were a group of seven, but it could accommodate many more. We got it ridiculously cheap - I think that was a mistake in the listing. It seems it used to be some sort of restaurant or something(?) because there is a counter where you would pay the bill. The views were great from the balconies. The location is right in front of your face when you step out of the train station. The interior decor was strange - brut concrete and pipes in places, contrasting with very nice modern toilets and shower rooms with wood paneled areas. There were no ensuites. It's very suitable for a large family group, or friends.

Fijne plek om de oude postroute te wandelen. Verder een rustig, knus dorp.

Het is er snel koud, maar de vele kachels en airco’s helpen daar heel goed bij.

Beautiful home, clean, full kitchen, incredible location (right across the street from the station!), friendly and attentive staff

The only challenge with this location is that it gets very cold inside in the winter. The staff is very attentive and has taken measures to provide heating sources, which help a lot, so make sure you know how to use them. Still, it can be quite chilly, so keep that in mind when you visit in the winter.

Amazing location right across from the train station with great views of the Kiso River.

Bathroom was downstairs but we slept upstairs.

Super friendly staff to help us with checking in. Right in front of train station and nakasendo trail. Its a very big nice house.
