Me dejaron guardar el equipaje antes del check-in

Aunque llegué a las 5 am, no me dieron la habitación hasta las 3 pm pese a que el hostel estaba vacío y la habitación ya estaba lista. El desayuno fue muy malo: Mala organización. No sabían preparar huevos revueltos. Pan viejo. Café de muy mala calidad. El primer día casi pierdo el desayuno porque el personal tuvo que salir a comprar pan y huevos ya que no había stock. La última noche estuve 30 minutos afuera del hostel porque el recepcionista estaba durmiendo y no escuchaba el timbre. La zona se siente insegura por la noche y obliga a usar Uber para desplazarse. El comportamiento del personal fue muy poco profesional: Se comían el desayuno de los huéspedes. Fumaban dentro del lugar. Ponían música a volumen muy alto. Se insultaban constantemente. Pasaban el tiempo usando el celular. Daban sensación de desorganización y falta de profesionalismo.

The cubbies are very isolating; you really do feel like you have a sense of privacy in there. Staff is also mostly pretty nice.

The place is not clean. Every time you look at a surface, be it in a shower or the curtains in your cubby, you'll probably find some kind of grime or smutz. The hostel would be so good for the value if it were a little cleaner.

Positive : Good location rear shops/resturants

Negatives : Where do I begin? 1) Poor wifi – don’t expect to work as a digital nomad here. 2) No indoor communal space. Just outdoor space, and it gets cold and wet in Bogota. 3) Poor kitchen – old and un-hygienic pots and pans which have no handles etc 4) Extremely bad attitude from the owner and his staff. I have never stayed in a hostel where the owner and staff look at guests with disgust and annoyance. Not once did I see any staff member smile at a guest as they walk past, let alone say ‘Hola’. It’s almost as if they’ve been told not to connect with guests, and not to befriend them. This poor attitude comes directly from the owner, who in the 2 months that I was here, never spoke to me till the very last day. He owns a restaurant linked to the hostel (called ‘Astuto’) and everyone focuses on the restaurant and the hostel guests are seen as a nuisance and an irritation. To give you an idea, they tell guests not to sit on the outdoor spaces during certain hours cos they are for the restaurant guests. And check this – they turn off the gas in the kitchen between 12:00 – 14:30. Why? Cos they don’t want hostel guests in view of any potential restaurant guests sitting in the patio, and also cos the owner thinks that if he stops hostel residents from cooking lunch, then they’ll buy it from the restaurant. 5) Unsafe – my laptop and phone were stolen during lunchtime one day when the staff were all present, as was the owner. Someone walked into the hostel, went upstairs and broke open the locked lockers and stole things and left. And guess what – none of the staff/owner questioned or stopped the guy. He was wearing a fake Gas Inspector uniform, and they let him in, even though he wore a full face mask and a cap – an obvious sign that he was concealing his identity, and yet none of the staff thought it was suspicious.

La ventilación de las ventanas, la cantidad de enchufes que había, el super baño privado que teníamos y que hemos estado comiendo ajo sin comerle

La ubicación es excelente, la cama es comoda y me gusta que el locker este dentro del espacio de tu cama. La cortina de privacidad en cada cama es excelente.

Anteriormente me había ya quedado 4-5 veces en este hostal y mi experiencia había sido genial, cada vez que visitaba habían mejorado en cuanto a infraestuctura y otros detalles, pero esta vez lo vi exactamente igual que hace mas de 1 año que fue la última vez que me quedé, sin ventana en los baños, solo un hueco en la pared, lo que hace los baños sumamente frios por el clima natural de Bogotá, el agua de la ducha tiene 2 temperaturas, congelada o hirviendo, no hay forma de regularla. Mi primera noche salí y al regresar tipo 3:30am nadie atendía la recepción, siendo 24 horas supuestamente, por mas que grité para que alguien saliera, toque el timbre innumerable cantidad de veces y nunca sonó, casualmente a las 6am que veo movimiento del chico de recepción quien estaba despertando, vuelvo a tocar el timbre y ahí si funcionó. En esas más de 2 horas casi me asaltan por estar solo en la calle, sino fuera por 2 policias que iban pasando en moto quienes me salvaron, estuve bajo la lluvia y con el frío característico de la madrugada en Bogotá. Llamé muchisimas veces a todos los números de teléfono que encontré en google maps y en booking y ninguno funcionaba. Al día siguiente el administrador me escribe pidiendo disculpas y ofreciendome 1 bebida gratis, le explico todo lo que pasó y cambia la bebida por 10,000 pesos (US$2.78) como si eso solucionara todo lo de esa noche incluyendo el casi robo. Cuando voy a realizar check out, tuve que gritar en recepción por mas de 15 minutos hasta que el chico saliera de algun cuarto en la parte de atrás, con cara de dormido para poder abrirme la puerta, él había dejando almohadas debajo de una colcha para simular una persona acostada alado de recepción. Toda la buena experiencia que había tenido en este lugar ya se fue y no volveré a hospedarme aca. Deberían encontrar alguna forma de poder darle llave o codigo de la puerta de la calle a los huespedes y el timbre colocarlo dentro para la puerta de madera.
