Guesthouse Kotohira

good service, and the owner is very friendly and nice :)

The location was a short walk from the JR station and the Kotohira shrine. The host was very friendly and welcoming, and spoke English really well. He had lots of suggestions for places to go and things to see.

While washing facilities were available, there wasn’t really anywhere to hang your clothes once they were washed. I was lucky though since I was the only guest during my stay, I could just hang them anywhere and it didn’t get in the way.

Good location and convenient

First things first: this is a welcoming place. I enjoyed my short time at Kotohira a lot and a huge reason for that was the friendly and relaxed atmosphere at the guesthouse. The host (heart and soul of this traditional house in central location) is a bubbly and passionate traveller himself that has seen so many places in Japan and around the world. He is really interested in your own experiences while you travel in the region and he can give you a lot of recommendations. Even though this guest house is in the north of Shikoku, he provided me with travel and commuting advices for Hokkaido. And: I loved the traditional house in central but quiet location. My roomy female dormitory (for 2 people) was lovely decorated. It felt a bit like in a treasure museum. The bath facilities are modern and the kitchen is well equipped (free coffee). So, if you wanna stay in a friendly place where you can recharge travel energy and get freshly inspired, pick this guest house.

Very friendly and helpful owner suggested both places in Kotohira and in places I told him I was traveling in the future. Quiet and very clean, accommodating with my arrival and departure times.

Wish I had arrived sooner or stayed another day!
