Surfing Turtle Lodge

The location right next to a decent surf beach. Meals were very nice and the place is well run with good staff.

We had a casa to ourselves but it was a little exposed without any curtains and the ceiling fans didn't work so was pretty hot at night. The biggest disappointment was that the place has nothing to do with turtles which is one of the main reasons we went there. It was a bit of a selling point for the place so I have to say that I felt a bit cheated. Also the place was overrun with what appeared to be two large tour groups - 40 or so youngsters on the first night we were there so it certainly was not peaceful

I loved the sunets and sun rises, location is great! The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Vera and Carolina are doing a really good job with the place, the volunteers were A1 aswell Daniel, Lorcan, and Mark. Samuel and Ivan were good crack aswell behind the bar.

You are cut off from the world, you have no local life, you are dependent on a horse and a lancha to reach Penislas beach, if you want to eat somewhere other than this hostel. There is no kitchen there is not even a fridge where you can put your bottle of water to cool. Difficult to have a social life after 40. Well if you have a good book and a lot of friends you have plenty of time. Everything is expensive but you have no other choice than to eat and drink fresh than to consume on site... With mostiquoes...

This hostel is a little slice of paradise! It’s the perfect place to relax for a week (or more!). They have great facilities, delicious food, really friendly staff and volunteers and lots of hammocks. We got to release baby turtles and it was amazing! Can’t recommend this place more; it’s one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in.

The beach nearby the hostel is really beautiful, calm and less crowded. Almost only the hostel guests are there! The sunset and outside area of the hostel is really worth it! The food you can order at the restaurant there is really delicious and they have vegetarian options!

The smell in the room was not good...a lot of dirt from the animals (may be bat's...?) around the roofs... Sandflies and a lot of bites from them.... Itches a lot.
