"Interesting and relaxing."

7.0

Massive property and very remote so you can really grasp the essence of the Drakensberg. We really enjoyed braai-ing on the Friday night with other backpackers - a social spot in the weekends. We had hamburgers at their restaurant the night before and were very happy with the meal.

It needs a lot of TLC especially the shared kitchens. We also had a lot of mosquitos in our room. As it is remote we highly recommended that you came prepared with food etc.

Hébergement très bien situé, il offre un cadre magnifique, décor et paysage. Accueil convivial au bar et restaurant.

Un peu limite par temps de pluie.

"Mosquitoes - Many Mosquitoes!"

1.0

Maria at the front desk was lovely

We got eaten alive by mosquitos. I previously lived in a tent for over a year in Tanzania, have travelled extensively throughout Africa working as a safari guide/lodge manager and never in my life have I ever come across so many mosquitoes. We sprayed ourselves with repellant 3 times between the hours of 9pm and 1am. Despite this, we continued to get bitten/carried away (we killed over 40 in one hour) it was so bad we eventually packed up and left cutting our losses and driving over 2 hours home. We even sacrificed the trail run we were supposed to be doing and the second night we were supposed to be staying. Room 37 needs to be pest controlled, or you need to install fans to keep the mosquitoes away. The ablutions and toilets were worse than most public bathrooms I have seen at African border posts, I did not even want to shower or touch anything (there was also no handsoap in any of the dispensers and no hot running water to wash your hands in the bathroom). When I did think about braving the shower, I looked out the window and saw a large half naked man, entering the ablutions. I then realised that the shower block was shared with men and I did not feel safe going to shower at night by myself with an unknown man in the same ablution with no closed off cubicles. I was also followed to my room by two dunk men which also made me feel unsafe. There is no security on the windows so if you want to sleep with the windows open to avoid the stifling heat/humidity at night in March, then you risk someone climbing into your room while you sleep as well as MORE mosquitoes. Im not a fussy traveller, I love camping and "roughing it" but sadly, this was unbearable for both myself and my fiance who is a farmer?

Super accueil! Un guide nous a très bien renseigné sur les randonnées à faire dans la region. Le lieu est magnifique, très reposant.

Nous souhaitions utiliser la cuisine commune, elle était très mal équipé et pas très propre.
