The waste paper baskets in the wc full for 2 days,the mirror downstairs old and dirty, the other one dirty and mirror not fixed, with no water ,soap bottle to refill,no hot water, the floor of the wc horrible, dirty as well as the ceiling, as well as those of the showers.The floor of our room very old and with plenty of paint stains.There was a chair in the corridor very old needing to be renewed, the ceiling of the corridor needing to be painted, The light switch of the corridor at 1m70. The bar for hanging clothes was fixed from one side only so if you put some clothes it kept on falling.. To pay 38 euros for these conditions was a robbery.

The host owners were really friedly. Really family. I can recommend the hostel for everyone with not that high Standards. We liked it here.

For these people with high standard this wont be the right hostel. Showers are very simple for example.

Meryscar is a lovely, homely hostel away from the busy main street of Tortuguero. If you enjoy relaxing in a hammock watching the world go by without breaking the bank, this is the spot for you. Scarlet is an excellent host, helping arrange everything you need (tours, transfers etc) at good prices. She was kind enough to store my bicycle & bags when I moved to another hostel (that I had booked previously) and I chose to stay at Meryscar again afterwards. Nothing bad to say!

We had a really nice stay in Hospedaje Meryscar. It is really close to the beach and you get everywhere within 5 walking minutes. Arturo and Scarlett were super friendly and helpful. We did the Canoe tour and it was totally worth it. Would recommend!😊

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. She recommended hikes we could do, local guides, and where to eat or drink. She was very helpful and nice throughout the stay.

We absolutely loved our stay! The location was right in the middle of the town. Right when we arrived there was a guide explaining about the island and its tours. We used the kitchen in the morning which was nice and clean. The place is wonderful and the host she is beyond amazing, she helped us with everything. She helped us arrange a trip to the waterfalls in guapilies, she dropped everything she was doing to come help. We are definitely coming back! Thanks for the stay :)
