The owner was very kind and let us check in early. He was very knowledgeable and told us about the fascinating history of the place. The decor of the foyer, bedroom and huge bathroom was very tasteful and stylish.

Being the old station building, our room had a window directly onto the railway platform, so unfortunately we couldn’t open it. It was a very hot day, so a ventilator in the room would have been appreciated.

Tastefully renovated old railway (Real) station (Estacio) and very roomy. It IS right on the railway line, exactly where the Camino crossed the tracks; train noise wasn't an issue on Saturday night - last train 9:30pm, first on Sunday at 7:10am

My partner found the single bed too firm; fine for me. Access to meals was a challenge on a Saturday night: a basic cheese or sausage sandwiche at the cafe across the road was the evening meal, and nothing open on Sunday morning, so we took a repeat order back to the room the night before. A taxi into town was recommended by our host - 2k away - which would’ve hit us a proper meal; and with an extra 4k on our Camino also got breakfast and coffee

I had a wonderful stay here, good and warm welcome. my bike was well taken care of and the helpfulness was great. Clean rooms and good beds. Highly recommended. Location is an old trainstation!!! Nice details.

Restaurants are a bit far from the location. So make an appointment with the nearby bar/ café. They close early.

The hosts were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed, told us about this historic train station, and made sure we knew about the nearby restaurant and the local cafe. Our room and bathroom were huge, and tastefully decorated. The building showcased the history with photos and artefacts. This was a great choice for us.

Would prefer to have someone on the premises. The door to the hotel was difficult to open with the key.

The room was large as was the bathroom. There were some décor touches in the room and bathroom but we felt they smacked of 'style over substance', we would have preferred more facilities and less arty touches.

We were given a ground floor room in this converted old station building. The room looked out on an old train platform which was accessible to the public and had graffiti on the walls. It also looked out on existing train platforms used by passengers and trains and there was considerable noise from trains and announcers. This meant we had no natural light or ventilation. There was no air conditioning. There was a plug in radiator to heat the large room. There were very few mains sockets to plug things into. Check in was from 5pm which we felt was rather late. We'd arrived on foot and had to catch a train somewhere else to pass some time until the room was ready. The bathroom had space for a big shower and a free standing bath - it could be luxurious - but instead it had a tiny shower cubicle tucked in one corner. There were no glasses in the room for us to drink water so we were told to go to the café across the road to get some plastic glasses from the café. There was just one chair in the room which was broken. Vala Do Carregado has very limited facilities and is overlooked by a large power station. Not the most attractive setting!

It was a bit expensive as I was doing El Camino Portuguese and all other accomodations were fully booked
