I had a bad experience with the taxi from the airport. This was booked through Tapihouse. Broadly speaking the Taxi was not actually at the airport but at an open air roadside repair shop. Whilst this was in Managua, it was remote from the airport and in a commercial/industrial looking area. I was taken there by the driver in a vehicle and with a second driver. Neither vehicle nor driver looked approved for airport work. I was tired after two days of travel and felt isolated and unsafe at this location. I didn't have a local sim card at that time; however, I did manage to message with the owner at Tapihouse through the Booking.com app. He responded promptly and started telephoning his driver. At one stage I was able to speak with the owner using the driver's mobile. Once the work was complete we twice tried to set off without the garage conducting any form of road test on the taxi. The vehicle was obviously still faulty and eventually I was returned to the airport in the faulty taxi and my fare was passed to another driver. Unfortunately this driver did not know the way to Las Penitas or Tapihouse. Whilst the owner of Tapihouse was helpful and apologised for my experience, this was an unacceptable and distressing event. Whilst local staff at Tapihouse were very helpful, the proprietor, who was the only person who was able to speak English was largely absent, departing the premises each morning and returning after dark. As a more general point, whilst I had learned some Spanish and practiced over a period of weeks before travel to Nicaragua, on reflection, I was not fluent enough by some margin. I would suggest fluent Spanish speakers only for Nicaragua.

the location is very good, right next to the beach! the room is comfortable with a good working AC. Kathy is the nicest person and makes the best breakfast!!! She was amazingly helpfull and made our stay so good. We also did our laundry here and that was the best so far in the whole of Nicaragua!

The shower was hardly working and the bed mattrass is kinda hard.

This is the only property in Nicaragua that we stayed at that had A/C - this is why we booked the property so we could escape the heat for two days. Overall the property was great, spacious, clean, it had a nice breakfast and the hammocks were a nice touch. We tried to extend our stay, but it was fully booked.

The host originally tried to put us in a room that did not look that the room we booked. It was small and smelt of damp and we refused it. They then offered the room that we booked - so be cognisant of this and make sure you get the room that is advertised on Booking.com! The properties location was not great, but it’s only a 15-20 minute walk on the beach to get to the main attractions. In addition, we thought the property was a bit pricey, but I guess every property is pricey in Nicaragua for the quality you get (in comparison to other properties in alternative Latin American countries).

Superb place to stay, the facilities are clean, and the common kitchen is very well equipped. Comfortable chairs and hammocks outside the rooms are great places to relax and read a book or work. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I will definitely come back.

I liked everything.

Loooooved the bed here, comfiest bed ive slept on in a very long time. Great chill space and nice kitchen. Everything was very clean and nice.

The neighbors have chickens and roosters that think the sun is rising even at 3am. It was rough. Showers aren't hot but they were comfy. but thats a region thing, not just this place.
