Panama Hat Hostel

The location is really good, walkable to metro, supermarket and malecon. The owners were very helpful and gave a lot of information before arrival so I could use the metro from the airport to reach here. Good kitchen with lots of equipment, big air conditioned rooms. Even let me keep my bags here for a few days while I visited other places and returned back. The area around here is really safe and would be my go-to place while visiting or transiting Panama city for sure! Highly recommended.

Only good thing was the Location

My personal belongings on my bunk bed were moved by hostel staff without my permission, and my soap bottle went missing. I was also moved to another room without being informed. I confronted the owner and told them this was not acceptable and that they cannot touch guests’ personal belongings. The owner claimed they had tried to contact me, but this was not true; I did not receive any calls, emails, or messages. The owner refused to take responsibility for staff handling my personal belongings. After I became very upset, the owner offered to reimburse me for my last night, which I accepted. I then left and stayed at another hostel, as I did not feel comfortable remaining there due to the owner’s disrespectful behavior and lack of trust. The place is very old and lot of things needed repair, the bed was uncomfortable, the 8-bed dormitory had a strong musty odor, the shower had no hot water, and despite the hot weather, the air conditioner was turned off during the daytime, making the room uncomfortably hot.
