Asian Everest House

The location is excellent for the centre of town and near a metro link for other adventures. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and has a good ambience thanks to the staff. It was a very happy stay for us.

From the front entrance to the Hostel's entry there is a steep flight of stairs to carry my suitcase up. One of the reception staff carried it upstairs for me without my asking for help.

This hotel has absolutely no redeeming qualities!

There is a huge gap between the room I booked and the text and photos provided by Booking.com. The room provided by the hotel is less than 13 square meters! The room I stayed in was not a king-size twin room at all, and the hotel was suspected of deceiving consumers! After thinking about it, I no longer want to use Booking.com as my preferred booking website. Your company allows hotels to provide false information to deceive consumers! How could such a small room have the 13 square meters described in the website! There is only room for a double bed in the room, plus a small bedside table and a rack for hanging clothes (not a wardrobe). Also, the door lock of the room is very, very unsafe!

The location is really good as it only takes about 10 minutes to get to the city center, although the neighborhood itself did feel a bit unsafe, especially as we were two young women traveling by ourselves. It is however an area where a lot of normal-looking people circulate so nothing bad ended up happening. It is also a plus that you get your own room and thus can have more privacy, since this accommodation style usually involves sharing the room with strangers. The staff was likeable and serviceable, but we do suspect the place must have changed owners recently because we read a lot of reviews mentioning an elderly lady who seemingly was very engaging and warm and who gave guests many good recommendations for places to visit, to eat at, and to shop in the city, which is something we expected would make us feel at home. The woman, however, was nowhere to be seen during those 5 days.

Toward the end of our stay we ran into a guest who made us feel very uncomfortable, since he was engaging in sexual behavior in the shared living room, and then woke us up the same night with sex sounds through the walls. No sexual assault took place, and we took nothing of what we witnessed personally, but it still was very bothersome.

Super helpful host, always around or available on the phone. The house it’s nice and it is kept clean. Some of the residents live here “permanently”, so I felt a bit like staying in someone else’s house. I’d also mention that - at the time of my staying - it was mainly men living in the property, which made me a bit uncomfortable at first. However, they all proved respectful. Super close to the metro station; I was able to walk everywhere, both towards the city centre and the miradouros that I had planned to go see. Overall, great value for money.

There was a lot of back and forth at times, with people leaving and coming in even later in the evening. From my room I could here whoever was walking past. Nothing major though, I could still get good sleep.

The bathroom was really big and with all the comfort (such as the dryer)

So friendly, he was very kind in every aspect.
